I think I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy one of these for my G50 03 box.
They are just over the £1200 mark but seem to be the diff of choice for a few well known ultima builders including the factory.
I asked the distributors on the off chance if they were up for a discounting for a group buy. They agreed and set out conditions and price breaks up to 15% off.

So any one interested in one of these?

Are there forum rules about group buys etc that I'm not aware of?

I had a Wavetec diff fitted in my G50/52 just before Christmas so a bit late for me.

I have not yet driven the car so no opinion on the performance of the diff.

That an impressive unit, a fair bit going on inside that. A combination of a Torsion/ATB/quaif helicall diff and a ramp and plate diff all in one.

I'm not a fan of torque biasing diffs, but this one looks like it gets over the lack of trailing throttle feedback common to ATB's,
I was firmly in the "clutch plate" LSD camp but this looks promising from the "fit and forget" non-maintenance point of view, not that the Porsche unit needs adjusting or replacement too often.

I was reading that the porsche unit needs some tinkering to suit the ultima. This one, you just worry about the basklash and bearing preload and away you go.... Im starting to take apart my ultima so will want one of these in a month, so if anyone is interested on one of these, let me know and we can arrange a small discount for not much bother.

No different for the Porsche unit adjusting preload for leading throttle and trailing throttle,
In the Porsche Turbo it's set to 20/100%, the 100% needs backing off to taste as it were.

Im on the verge of going for one of these, so doesn't seem to be too much further interest. I also spoke to the Factory today and the diffs they have used are Quaife ATB diffs not the Wavetrac, so sorry about that.

Dont mess about. Do it. On the basis of my reccomendation Chucknorris got one and he hasnt regretted either. Let me put it this way.... How much have you spent collectively on the car, engine and box and your not going to fit an LSD which limits performance more than tyre choice and engine power for the sake of saving... X??? smile

Very worthwhile addition.

It will allow much more confidence when planting the right foot.

I have a used Wavetrac diffs in a few of my project cars and can only say good things about them. Great progressive feel, feedback from the axle.

I've been extremely Lucky to have been able to source an extremely rare G50.50 which has a LSD as standard. So my G50.01 will soon be available for sale.
