Tag Aquaracer Winder comes out
Discussion
I have a Tag Aquaracer Calbre 5 and just before christmas i undid the winder to change the date and the wheel came out of the watch. I tool it to Goldsmiths who basically said I had over wound it, to be honest hardley wound it up as i just adjust the date and time and throw it on. I sent it back to Tag for repair (took ages)and have worn it probably 6 or 7 times since it was repaired and yesterday the wheel came out again, this time i ahvent wound it up at all so that cant be a reason for it.
I havent been home to confirm but I think its out of warrenty now. Anyone heard of this happening on Tags?

Not heard of it particularly from TAGs but it's not that uncommon as a fault generally. It's caused by wear or damage to one or all of the following (in rough order of likelihood):
Stem
Setting lever spring (where the spring also retains the lever, as it does on 2824 based movements like the Cal 5)
Setting lever
Movement front plate.
The good news is that all of them except the last one are fairly cheap repairs - it usually makes sense to change all of them together to be safe. Plate wear is very unlikely indeed unless you've got the only 60 year old Cal 5 in existence!
Oh, and it has absolutely bugger all to do with you winding it. You can't overwind them, overwinding is a myth that should have died with the verge pocket watch but has been kept alive by places that want a handy excuse to avoid responsibility for problems. The fact that Goldsmiths are using it..... well, you decide!
You can (in some circumstances) cause wear to the reverser wheels by winding them every day for a year or two but that's nothing to do with "overwinding" as people normally mean it

Yep, not a problem.
The Calibre 5 is an ETA 2824-2 base and all the keyless work (the setting and winding mech) is left as standard ETA parts, which are easily obtainable at the moment (ie: I keep them in stock )
Most TAG crowns are also available (but I have to order them) if it's the crown itself that's at fault.

This happened to my Carrera - also a Calibre 5.
It was about 2 months out of warranty but TAG fixed it for free.
Depending how far out of warranty it is, it might be worth trying. I included a little sob story note with it which the dealer said probably helped
