What's that then... (celestial object in photo)?

Messing around with long exposures in Cambridge last night as there is a building illumination festival on.... on this and others taken around the same time of Kings chapel (from Clare), there is something apparent to the left of and level with what I assume must be Jupiter. Pretty sure it's not a sensor or lens smudge as it's only on those and looks a bit comet like to me... any ideas?

How long was the exposure? Looks like a plane flying through cloud to me.

Too long for that and too long between the various shots with it appearing in the same place I suspect but can see what you mean...

Almost definitely Jupiter - which is bright and high in the sky at the moment.

I see it now. It could be an aircraft vapour trail. They sometime can be quite short. It could also be a meteor trail.

You can still get artefacts in the lens from reflections. How long was the exposure?

There is what looks like a plane line or perhaps a satellite on a long exposure. Though as it is smudged in cloud and visible then plane.

That one was 8 seconds... interesting (to me) thing is the images either side of it with different exposure times also show exactly the same feature in the same location. The captures were some time apart as I was messing with settings and also using the shutter release timer so probably a good minute apart.

Reflection from earth then or an internal artefact off one of the closer bright lights. Does seem to have some extra bits to it at another glance. Tending to the latter myself...

There's a crop of it straight from the camera RAW file so no processing apart from conversion to JPEG...
