Jalpa - Throttle cable

Hi all,

I thought I'd take the Jalpa out for some exercise. No joy though - the throttle pedal has no tension in it and just flops about in a rather indecent manner. To my mind either the cable has snapped or it's come off at one end. Does anyone know the best way to get access to the cable to check? I am expecting this to be a pain in the proverbial of course!

I am pretty sure that this runs with a bunch of other stuff under the car. If you can get the car on a ramp, that will be the best option - there is a panel that runs down the underside of the car that is bolted in place by about 20 M6 bolts - something stupid. My guess would be that it runs out of the pedal box and then down and through this section and then up into the engine bay.

I have 2 or 3 Jalpa manuals at home so I will take a look

Yes, you're right - having done some digging I have found it runs through a central void the length of the car concealed by a plate secured, as you say, by about a million bolts. In mine they are of various lengths and liberally coated in waxoyl to further add to the fun. There's another plate with only 4 bolts that also has to be removed but that's a walk in the park in comparison.

The pedal has a rod into this void where it is then attached to the cable all the way to the front of the engine bay and then up (through the engine) to the top. It turns out the cable was fine at both ends but snapped in the middle so it's time to get a replacement in there. I'll let you know if I find anything useful as I do this.

None of my manuals mention the cable but please PM me if you find anything in yours.
