There was a 'road collision' on an NSL lane local to me recently in which two people died. There has been plenty of speculation locally regarding the causes and I assume there will be an investigation and wondered if the results of this would be publicly available / published somewhere?

I only ask because already the local papers are quoting residents that are saying it was 'an accident waiting to happen' and 'a very dangerous road ... If two people have died then it's proof that this road is dangerous' - and as I have driven this road almost every day for 15 years I am interested in the actual cause, and any changes to the road that may result from this.

If you can find out the CAD number that would be a start, the Police may give you a few details. Generally the exact details of a fatal won’t become available until the hearing.

Guessing that was the Vigo one. I policed that area for over 3 years a few years back and never heard of one accident there. Probably won't hear anything until inquest or court case (if there is one) happens, so some time away. Anything before then will just be speculation.

Vigo Village?

Assuming it's this one:

Idiotic comments from the locals "accident waiting to happen" "no street lights" "no speed limit" rolleyes

I drove down there for work for 18 months and it's just a nice NSL lane, drive to the conditions and it's fine. Obviously no point in speculating on the cause, but presumably there will be knee-jerk calls for a 30 limit or something.

Dont think a single KSI incident would get the local authorities enough points for a reduced speed limit.

You might get some new signage warning of a bend or 'slow' written on the road.

OP, it can take years for the relevant info to become formally available in the public domain. If you're that interested then attend the Coroner's court

I've done it more times than you can shake a stick at. Some car drivers are not averse to straying over the centre line on some of the bends.

If you meet a lorry it is likely to be on or over it - http://goo.gl/l6pQKp - I have encounterd articulated HGVs on a number of occasions and that can be very dicey given how much curvature there is on that road.

Does anyone see the irony of the A227 with its much wider carriageway being a 40 limit but Harvel Lane being NSL? - http://goo.gl/Bc0IhS

Hmm, those comments were definitely in the story, I didn't make them up. Seems they may have been removed.

Thanks to all those who replied, and yes it was the incident on Harvel Road - Just to add some closure to the thread, It appears from locals who actually know those involved, that the car with two young lads and a girl in it, was driving in a rather over-enthusiastic manner and lost control and collided with a tree, then subsequently the other vehicle, which sadly was driven by the grandfather of one of the boys.
