This type of live action show may well be the way forward, there is also the TKC event at Brands on the 14th November to look forward to.

Great, this is just the sort of event I love, it was a real shame that last year's Kitfest got cancelled so I really hope this one goes through. I would however say that the North of England is being abandoned it would appear to me. There's an awful lot of people living north of the Midlands.

Thanks for the info.

Just found the FB page of the Donington show, and it seems that they're replacing the Donington Kitcar show with Castle Combe :

I did enquire about carrying with tradition and hosting the Newark show, I ran a mile when told how much they wanted for a field and a cow shed for the weekend!
I hope that we will see lots of traders and manufacturers at the Castle Combe show. I understand the suggestions for a show up Norf but if there was such a thing then those from the Sarf would complain! The Exeter kit car show used to be successful.
I have just booked for the Restoration show at the NEC on March 28-29th, sounds like it may attract our target audience.

Hmmmm I was hoping that this was in addition to Donington for all the above reasons including those I mentioned above too. Anyone who's involved in Kit Cars will tell you that it takes time, people start looking years before they actually become fully signed up owning their own kit car

Don't get me wrong I go to several of these events at Castle Combe and always love taking part especially as you can get out on the track. I just think that Donington was spot on, it had everything for a good day out for the whole family and would bring in new blood to the Kit Car scene where as the Action days tend to be for those who have already bought into the deal.

As I say I think both Donington and the new Castle Combe events were and will be great I just wish that Donington was given a chance to have grown.

The NEC show looks to be good too and I've noted that down for a go to event now also thanks Stuart. I've done Beaulie a few times before and that's also good for those in the South but I really think there needs to be events in the North covered too and that means Scotlandwavey as well

Donny was free for kit car owners, CC charge if there is more than 10 per club.
Incorrect.

All kit car drivers can get in free, but they need to organise it via their owners' clubs. It works like this: the clubs books a pitch with CKC, we then send one club representative the passes which they distribute via their members either in advance or on the day. It doesn't matter how many cars they bring – the more the merrier! And those who are not affiliated with any club can come along on a pitch we'll set aside under a CKC banner.

The reasons we've moved from Donington to Castle Combe are in response to comments from kit car owners who want more to see at their shows, including the chance to take their car on a track, and traders/manufacturers who are very keen to align with other events for a fresh audience.

The Classic, Kit and Retro Action Day is a development of an event at CC which last year attracted more than 60 classic car clubs. If we can bring the same number again of kit cars, together with the trade stands you'd see at any kit car show, it will be a fantastic gathering with plenty to see. This is not a track day: it's a show at a circuit venue which has the added benefit that you can take your car on track if you want to (and for just £20 for a 15-minute session booked in advance or £25 on the day).

But for those who are not into driving on track, you'll still have a kit car show to see as well as a whole load of classic cars. And just like Donington, you can sit on the banking and watch the action on track.

Sure, some folk won't want to travel all the way to Wiltshire – but let's not forget that those in Devon and Cornwall have a helluva journey to the likes of Stoneleigh and Donington. For me living in Sussex, Donington is more than 170 miles each way, so it's not just around the corner from everyone!

Castle Combe is a different event to Donington, but in many ways it's better. If it wasn't, we would have carried on with what were doing! Come along with an open mind and you never know – you might just enjoy yourself!

Great to hear that CKC is listening to owners and responding positively Adam. I think Donington will be missed however, but do recognise the costs involved in putting on shows. Hopefully it can be resurrected again sometime soon.

As I've said several times before Castle Combe Action Days have always been well worth going along to and I've always enjoyed them whichever cars I've gone in. Perhaps there might be someone who can do a similar event in the Northern territories there's a lot of country north of Watford TKC's Blyton Park a couple of years ago was superb and I travelled all the way up to the North Midlands to go to it from Dorset driving

I do hope numbers attending reward the confidence behind the relocation to Wiltshire.
