A couple of months ago, we took out a p.c.p for one of these, for my 19 year old daughter.

It's been back to the dealer once - and goes back again this week.

She's had some issues with the Sat Nav but being set to Belgium didn't help. Journey times are still always far out quoting much longer ETAs and she doesn't drive fast.

The biggest issue is the auto gearbox, as it takes ages to change up a gear. It was doing 68 on the M6 before going into 5th yesterday.

It often lurches sometimes on down shifting too.

She is now regretting her choice and wishes that she'd kept her old Micra.

Any advice please?

Are they all like this?

It doesn't sound out of the ordinary for the xshift transmission, they do take time to 'learn' your driving style though.

The autobox is as you describe - when I complained the service manager said a little sheepishly that they're all like it.
The vicious b*st*rds gave me one of those woeful vehicles as a loaner while mine was being serviced. Nasty, horrible, hateful little car.

YMMV. hehe

Thanks for this.

We're going to ask if we can upgrade it or something.

It doesn't even slip into top gear till about 68 mph.

It's been there three times now for them to sort the sat nav, which is minor really, but the auto box is awful.

My wife and daughter want to reject the car but I'm not sure if they can - if they are all the same.

Is it the same MMT gearbox as in the previous generation of Aygo?

I read many bad reviews from customers when looking (and bought a manual Aygo, instead); perhaps they really are "all like that".

Might be worthwhile checking the gearbox oil even if it is a sealed unit. Change the oil and see what happens if it's not the right colour. smile

It's called xshift now, and although better than the earlier MMT, it is still similar in its design.

All the Toyota MMT gearboxes are slow in auto, hence why you have to use it in manual mode.

Manual mode is good because you push it up to change down and pull back to change up, which is the proper way around

Here's mine from a few years back

ok it's not a DSG / PDK but you couldn't say it was slow and need to take the car back. Unless they have changed it in the meantime of course and it is now some sort of dumbed down cheaper thing .. might well be.

PS Loved my Balance motorsport exhaust. Not bad for a 1 litre

As a 40+ year it made me feel 17 again and want to get a Civic with abnormally low suspension that only did 20mph around the local chipshop music
