Morning, as above needing to remove bonnet and not been there before.

Any tips and advice to make the job easier? I hear rumours about those bloody clips. Also what about the lever for the service bonnet?

Cheers

Seen and read that but that seems quite simple... I've heard issues with getting to the clips and also it doesn't mention the lever that is connected to the main bonnet that opens the service bonnet. Assume there is a cable connected to the rear of this

I've not had an issue with the clips. Can be a pain to line them back up but I've never had an issue getting them off . The lever/cable arrangement for the service bonnet is all attached to the main bonnet. It just pulls a pin out of the trailing edge of the service bonnet to allow you to open it.

If you have the original toolbox, there is a magic tool for undoing the bajonet clips...

Risky to do as a one man job, get somebody else to help you lift it out!

Cheers guys, got a mate helping. So what do I do to the clips? Push, twist? I know where they are and can squeeze my sausage fingers in the gap.

Not sure whether you're stuck on the service bonnet or main bonnet. For the latter, here's a photo' of me holding the bonnet (with the ball) up above the socket. The U is the part that moves in and out (towards the outside of the car to release), and it also turns when the ball isn't in place just to make putting the bonnet on properly more challenging. The vantage point of the photo' is from the middle of the bonnet outwards.

(Apologies if you're stuck on the service bonnet).

I can get my finger in one side but not the other, so if SWMBO'd isn't about I use the end of felt tip type pen to push the clip. You may have to push down on the bonnet slightly to relieve the pressure on the clip, then just push the end of the horseshoe shape shown in the pic above out towards the wing.

Slightly ..... OK totally biased opinion ...... but have you considered a Allan Howell bonnet conversion.

Allan is based in the TVRCC Tees Valley Region and has done a number of our Tuscan bonnet conversions. The end result is a simple to use and operate flip front.

I would second getting a bonnet lift conversion done/diy. I always check for leaks and general wear and tear on my tvrs every couple of drives.

Have wanted this since owning the Tuscan, once I've fixed this issue that is on the list. jubilee clips ideally need changing any ideas on sizes and how many whilst I've got the coolant drained.
