Barcelona for weekend in April - Advice

GF's birthday, off to Barcelona April 2nd - any tips on good places to stay/areas/things to do/places to eat?

A fantastic city, we loved it when we went last year.

The open-topped bus tours are a great way of getting about, visit the Olympic stadium up on the hill and also try and get down to the beach / harbour as that will give you a better picture of what the place is about.

we stayed in the Hotel Claris which was beautiful and managed to get a very good package deal including flights direct from Newcastle. The hotel has a lovely roof-top pool and bar and it just felt very classy:-

You will have heard the stories of pick-pockets etc, but seriously take note, our friend had her handbag taken from under our noses in the café outside the Gaudi House. Despite this we felt very safe in the city in the evenings, especially exploring the old back streets, a great weekend.
