I have used my tag for the French motorways for some years.

I have just returned to Saab ownership and want to put a mount for it in my lovely 9-3 2.8 Hirsch Cabriolet. Usually the have to be fitted on the shaded area behind the rear view mirror. In my case the screen doesn't have one. I have mailed Sanef about this and they say as long as the windscreen is not heat resistant it will be fine.

I have no reason to think it's not the original screen so the question is whether it is heat resisting or not.

Anyone know?

Cars that had a lot of heat reflective screens were mainly 'orrible French cars such as Renaults and Citroens. From a distance the windscreens looked like they had a green/yellowy sheen not dissimilar to oil in a puddle. AFAIK Saabs didn't have heat reflective screens and my DART-Tag used to work fine on my old 900

I have a 9-3 Convertible and have been struggling with exactly the same issue. Sounds like it should work fine, but can I ask where you located the tag in the end - directly under the rear view mirror?

My `91 Saab 900 turbo has no dotted bit or shading, but the tag worked perfectly on the barriers - bit anxious at the first one, but ended up going through the 30kph ones in the end - 1600 miles with no problems. It was a releif not to have to juggle for change & work out which variant of the toll booth it was. Have a lovely time & good luck at Dover & Calais - might be an idea to fit this for the return >

Thanks for that, Julian - good to know that it worked OK. Mine has the black/ shaded area but there's no room for the Tag unit. Think I'll risk it though and am prepared for the slight 'heart in mouth' feeling at the first booth!!

I will be mounting mine beside the mirro on the passenger side.

Really pleased I decided to book Dover - Dunkirk. Cheaper too and what sounds like nicer boats.

Really looking forward to a bimble down Route Napolean in 2 1/2 weeks, top down, soaking up both rays and views.

PS - if you go over Pont Normandie it works there as well - I wasn`t sure it would.
