looks far better than the latest Merc....and more than likely 1/2 the price.

I agree with the slope on the back of modern estates.....why?....they are supposed to lug "stuff"....if i want a slope on the back i would buy a hatch back

Would i be tempted?....yes if the load area was practical.....and it looks better than most......Volvo still do a better load area on looks.....and this Kia is the only one i think i have seen that looks good....if it came out if t he factory like that i think they will sell loads......especially to those that like skiing.....as you have some where to store them down the middle of the car

From the autoexpress article in the OP:

Kia confirmed to us last year that the next-generation Optima will get a reworked version of the current 1.7 CRDi diesel engine at launch. A range of turbocharged petrol engines is unlikely, we believe, but a plug-in hybrid model is thought to be on the cards, with Kia promising a class-leading electric-only range.

Looks like a ménage a trois between a Ferrari FF, Alfa 159 and a VW Scirocco that's had a few pies. However, the end result is quite tidy IMO.

Quite surprised that nobody has tried to get Schreyer out of SK - must be getting a very hefty pension from Hyundai.

I love the styling, but I suspect load space would be a bit compromised, like the BMW Touring variants.

I always find Kia just make sure their cars tick boxes, nothing more.

"Has it go suspension?" Tick
"Does it have an engine?" Tick
"Has it got wheels?" Tick

A mate of mine has cee'd sportback and the suspension is so soft and underdamped the body just lollops about over the bumps when it's anywhere near loaded up. It's like there is almost zero r&d into anything that makes a car nice to drive!

Just my limited opinion of course!
They are coming on very rapidly, these presumptions have killed many a car company.

We had our 1st new Sorento arrive yesterday for the showroom. Certainly a different proposition to the outgoing car and a million miles away from the 1st generation one.

Did you ever see the Kia C'eed on the Top Gear test track? Very little body roll, and extremely composed handling.
