just testing the water as ive been thinking very hard of selling my GTR

Charles Dunn is visiting this weekend to sort a small oil leak and fitting a new clutch, then it will be going back together over the next few weeks before being cleaned ready for summer.

Im not sure what the market is like at the moment.. i havent looked in the classified to see if cars are selling or just sitting there.

as you know my car is a factory built car at a cost of £90k in 2001 but only done 16000 miles. its an amazing car with all the factory mods plus more

just after peoples thoughts

Is it a forced sale or because you're bored or fancy a change? If the latter, what would you replace it with?

You have to think that this one would probably change hands in the high 30-s, maybe 10% under the sticker price ?? ..... it's 7 years younger than yours and it has an LS engine..... looks to be well built....

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/u...

Put it this way, 7 years and an LS engine - what's that worth....if I was in the market it would be 5 to 10 thousand... somewhere in there, depending on the rest of the car...

I know nothing about your car, but I am assuming it has an SBC, and I am sure its well built... I am not sure the low mileage is all that relevant.. maybe to some people..... I am thinking it's value is in the low 30-s... but usual story... right person, right time and it could do better - Just my thoughts.... best of luck with whatever you decide

Hi Dom
Sorry to see you thinking of selling, I would be interested to see what you get next.
In my opinion the market has gone up as has most of the supercar market. Mainly due to the interest rate at the banks being none existent. Most guys with some rainy day cash are saying I might as well put my money in something I can enjoy and hopefully not lose money on it.
The cars that will pull the most money are the latest spec i.e.. LS engine cars, especially LS7's and those that are obviously well built and still in very good condition.
There is an LS3 car on PistonHeads at the moment I think for about £42k which has an LS3 and a really nice dash to give you a guide for yours.yours.

Dom

If your car is worth low £30ks (I have no idea, as I have never seen it in the flesh, which is a shame) it sounds rather 'inexpensive'.

It looks great in the pictures and videos you have posted. It was one of the inspiration for me going with silver for mine.

I suspect my car is worth a similar amount despite the considerable expenditure on it's rebuild, and, even though it has an LS engine.

As our lives move forward we find our needs or desires change. These may be forced on us by outside circumstances, or they may come from inside ourselves. We can never tell when they will strike, but eventually they do.

Just make sure the decision is right for you.

I wouldn't sell so quick but you must have thought about this before as its not an easy descision now i reckon we all need to move on eventually but think carefully these cars are a lot of fun for the money and they look great do you want something different or change or alter what you have ? just a question

I just bought mine in October and had been keeping a close eye on the classifieds for a couple of months before that. The main thing that struck me, simple as it sounds, was that there were almost 2 sets of cars.... the ones that sold and the ones that didn't.

I don't know enough (perhaps anything!!) about all the technical differences and spec differences that goes towards whatever sets the value, but at the time I was looking and with a budget of £40/50k almost every car I found myself thinking, "hmmm... that looks like a good car" it seemed to sell fairly quickly. Don't think that really proves anything other than that there are obviously buyers out there.

thankyou for you feedback.

i cant say what im replacing it with yet as it depends if i can afford it//

I spoke to the factory as they know my car very well and been advised its worth the region of 45k

yes you are right, it doesnt have an ls engine, which for some is better as its so simple to diagnose and repair cheaply compared to the electronic cars, but

but when did you last see a factory built car for sale?

its high hp over 600, was built using all new components (yes gearbox was brand spanking new g50/52) has alot of factory mods not available, ie anti roll bars, custome headers supplied by Gain at American speed to produce more HP, and all the options you dont see any more like rose joint suspension and air/out takes at the front wheels.

the next car will be ....mmm different. but as said depends on costs as im not a high earner, just a massive petrolhead who loves his cars

I will guess a Lambo.................but is that really different? It will certainly be more expensive to insure and service. Oh, and not as quick!

If Dom has his sensible Petrolhead on it will be some form of classic. Gaining in value rather than depreciating.

Nissan GTR with mods. That would be different. Still a Datsun though...

Any other guesses?

"Different" doesn't easilly narrow things down from an Ultima. smile
I will guess at an Aston Martin.. Still a fantastic looking and powerful car but less in-yer-face than an Ultima or a Lambo.

I reckon an old American muscle car of some sort.

He likes diesels, so a diesel TT perhaps wink

It's a well known car with good factory upgrades, reckon it'll sell quickly if you do decide to. Shame to see you leave though.

Interesting how we all want different things I could have stretched to a 430 or Gallardo but prefer the Ult!! I think you should keep the GTR and have something else as well if you have room

i dont have room unfortunately

i ll miss her as its a fantastic car, and better than any 430 or lambo.. but had her 5 years now and sometime a change is needed before you suddenly realise what you have lost.

this car IMO is the best i could want from any ultima.. its factory built, every option, i know the car. its drives on track like its on rails and is mega quick, yet controllable. its so well balanced and rare like a racing car.

we will see.. it depends on price. charles is here tomorrow and then ill fire her up during the week after ive replaced the front splitter

in the mean time if anyone is interested let me know.

Since getting my Ultima in early November, I haven't even lifted the dust covers off of a Ferrari, a Lotus and an Aston in the garage cloud9

DOM, you are crazy!

your gtr is beautiful

I would buy it but I have to sell my ....

I had, and I, porsche, ferrari, maserati ... but if you want to "hear a car living (VIVA)", you have to try a gtr!

and ,if you go on the track ,gtr is the best!

you will regret

perhaps a lambo v12.... but not on track

is a completely different fun
try it .....
