This is very promising. Just have to hope they keep the CGI and humour to a minimum so we don't end up with another Resurrection

It looks a bit like a remake of Short Circuit, only the robot is more humanoid (it's really Sharlto Copley) and runs into Yolandi and Ninja from South African outfit "Die Antwoord".

There's been a lot of talk in recent months since Blomkamp released images and premises of the film he wanted to make. His original plan was to have his movie take place after Aliens, with Ripley and Hicks teaming up to take on Weyland Yutani who had recovered the Engineers spacecraft and were studying it.

I'd not heard it was a continuation of Resurrection until reading here though.

I reckon he'll do an excellent job if he keeps that gritty look he seems to achieve with his movies, a look that is obviously sci-fi yet still looks realistic, if that makes any sense. Oh, and having (what appears to be his favourite actor) Sharlto Copley as a Pulse Rifle-toting Marine would be cool too!

It doesn't say that in the article....nowhere is "Resurrection" mentioned......

Much as I like Alien3 as a film - I hope they write it and resurrection off and continue from Aliens. They could do this quite easily by starting the movie with a flashback sowing Alien3 and Resurrection as simply vivid dreams that Ripley has had over the intervening years (it's already canon that Ripley dreams about the Aliens and being impregnated). It may not be a popular way to do it - but it would be clean.

Discounting 3 and Resurrection would be the best outcome for me, the idea of Ripley and Hicks taking on Weyland is a good one IMO.

Or they could run it in parallel with Resurection with another clone perhaps?

Won't hold my breath though.

It said it's been confirmed as an official sequel, so I take that to mean Alien 5?
