Thinking of taking the wife to France for 4 days away end of March. Ideally want to be driving for no more than 4 hours a day, and not sat on the autoroute (ie I'm after fun roads!)

Any recommendations of places to visit? Bar le mans, my exposure to France has been minimal.

+1 for the Voges. Nice scenery, quiet roads, pretty villages and won't swallow up much time getting there.

Personally I would just book a cottage in Swiss Normandy area and tour around from there. Or head further west into Brittany. You've got places like Mont St Michel and Concarneau which are nice for a few hours great roads and beaches if the weather is kind and you wrap up. It depends what you want out of the 4 days? I guess most people would head down to the Millau bridge and the Gorge du Tarn but that's a bit further to drive. The area south of Le Mans on the Loire is also worth a look, the troglodyte homes around Saumur are fascinating.

I would certainly agree on the Vosges and you could slip across the border to the Black Forest which has some excellent driving roads as well as things to do and see.
