Hi all,

I put windscreen wash in my car yesturday and it seems my bonnet latch has packed in.
It will no longer lock shut when I close the bonnet. I can hear the cavle moving at the latch when its pulled in the car but it just wont lock down.

Monkfish are on the case for a part but unfortunetly there are none in the country.

I'm going to remove the bumper and take the latch off on saturday as it looks pritty gunked up and maybe I can see whats up so any tips welcome.

And s the title says, if anybody's got some spare parts going then please give me a shout.

My lucks been terrible lately,
Had to get two new tyres after one got taken out by a pot hole (I got two as the mot station put on 30's instead of 35's).
Ordered the control arms from the US as I've had mine checked and one is on its way out so need them ready for MOT next month.
And now the bonnet latch has gone.

Thanks all

Yep, I had that prob once. To sort it temporarily I ran a nut and bolt to push the latch forward so it would lock:

Monkfish changed it with a new one in the end.

I had very same issue recently, a good seeing too with a small wire brush and copious amounts of WD40 seemed to do the trick, just gunked up it would seem.

This.

Mine wouldn't lock down in the really cold weather so pushed the nose grilles out to get to the latch properly & cleaned it up with a wire brush, loads of WD40 & finished off with white grease. Spot on now.

I have one that you are welcome to. It came off as it was causing alarm issues but still locked fine.

Pm your address if you want it & I'll pop it in the post tomorrow.

The cable seems to be working at the lock but the handle in the car is very slack which I think it is meant to be when the bonnet is open?

I can hear it clicking at the lock and through the grill i can see it moving.

PM sent thank you R_Kid.

I was wondering about the grills but thought that they were fixed inot the bumper and couldnt come outwithout braking them?

Thank for the help guys.

It's on its way to you.

As for the grills they are on clips, three or four iirc, to remove you just need to push them in.

Hi again all,

Just wanted to let you all know that the latch from r-kid arrived first thing monday and got me sorted by tuesday.

I greased it all up just incase so should be good well into the future. Did have a little trouble getting the alignment sorted.

And the way I got to it was to undo the bumper on one side and all the way underneat so that it could be pulled forward enough to do the job.

Can't say thank you enough.

Cheers,
Chris
