Bought a BEC in 2009 on a bit of a whim -
A Stuart Taylor (now Aeries Motorsport) had a few issues and could never really learn to live with it. Eventually it broke Dow and I had nobody to fix it. Ended up selling it and the whole experience totally put me off.

Always felt I would've much prefered a car engine.

Now looking for a car engined car - preference would be S2000 / honda engine, duratec, zetec. And hopefully in an mk indy.

Hoping i will have more confidence to drive to trackdays, replace parts and fix any problems.

Just got to find one at the right price. Don't want to spend more than about 6k.

Any suggestions? Anyone got one for sale?

Just to manage expectations £6k will not buy an s2000 or duratec mk, may be a stock zetec imo. A part built mnr s2000 mk just dold for £8.2k recently. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261761841988?clk_rvr_id=...

If I were in your position I would be looking at a striker, probably the best handling seven and sensible prices, 4age or zetec se would be my choice.

Not a lot about at the moment, good luck with the hunt.

I'd settle for the zetec. I did see that s2k mnr on eBay already!

There is one on pistonheads for around 5 that basically says its got a few scars but does the job - zetec engine on carbs. Any thoughts on that?

I bought this last weekend....

I know they get a bit of a slagging here but at the money I couldn't turn this down. I'll have a bit of fun in it and move it on

2.0 litre Rover/Honda injected engine and Ford 5 spd box. All new components and well built by a guy who knows what he's doing smile

An mk indy with zetec engine for 5.5k - 6k should be doable shouldn't it.

Will the car engine at around 170 bhp feel as fast as the kit car I had with the fireblade engine at (I think) 110bhp? There are plenty on R1 engined cars around but I just have bad memories of reliability. Prefer the grunt of a car engine too!
