What are the rules on taking your annual holiday entitlement? I know you have to be given a minimum number, but do you have to actually take a minimum number?

If they are not used up by a certain time they can't be carried over, therefore if you do need to take a minimum per year then surely this contradicts that rule?

If you don't use your entitlement you lose the days not used, unless your contract states otherwise (or zero hour contract etc.)

Employer has to give you a minimum of (IIRC) 21/22 days paid leave a year.

Carry forward of unused leave or Pay in lieu of annual leave may be offered by the employer (but are not compulsory).

Worst case scenario - you cant take leave because you're too busy at work and employer doesnt allow carry forward.

Why wouldn't you want to take holiday?

Surely you have family/children to spend time with?

Yes, I worked for a company that would buy up to ten and sell up to 5.

Legal requirement is 28 days including bank holidays.

You can get paid for them IF you weren't able to take them due to being needed at work etc otherwise you just loose them. You can carry some over with prior arrangement.
