Taken from the office break in thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Forensics did turn up but I don't know whether they found anything the second time round, the first time round they found quite a lot of blood on a broke piece of glass/floor

I'm wondering whether the first time was kids to scope out the place and the second time was associated adults?

First time was smash and grab but more smash - second time was a lot more organised... frown

Does anyone know if we have grounds to get out of the office contract due to the break in's, it just isn't a safe environment to work at the office 24 hours a day which is something that was sold to us when we moved in - in my mind it isn't fit for purpose any more...

Also we were told (admittedly in passing) the building had not been broke into before - also not true.

Any advice would be welcome - we have approached them and they aren't making it easy

On that thread you said that the contract was up at the end of the month. If that's the case just up and leave this time next week.

It will depend on what the contract states, and what you were told in advance of moving in. However you will also need to prove what you were told. Reality is probably better to stay until the end of the contract.

Sorry I should have clarified that, we have a 12 month contract with a 6 month break in the middle - the way It reads is that you could say it was at the start or end of this month (we are choosing the latter) when we approached the office they claimed no knowledge of this though we do have it on paper... concerned they will try and hold the deposit back, but we will see next week.

If it's in the contract it's in the contract. If they have knowledge of it or not is not your issue as long as it is in writting. They may try and hold back the deposit for many reasons right or wrong. If you want out use that clause and go from there. It's more likely to stick than the safty argument with a he said/she said about there being no problems in the past.
