Hi - such is the level of miss information kicking around online I thought I would see who out there has actual detailed information about the casting, colours and usage for Escort or Cortina Mk1 Kent engines.

So lets start - in terms of original ford cam identification I now have...
escort cam paint dimples
1300GL cam=701M6250 red?
1300GT cam=711M6250 CA yellow
1600LC cam=711F6250 CC
1600LC cam=711M6250 DA 3
1600GT cam=771M6250 BA 3

Really interested to get the spec of the cams plus castings plus colour rings. Ford also used a lot of the x-flows in industrial engines, I have a LC 1600 with a DA suffix on the cam and no idea what the actual specification is. Sump is 10mm deeper and no baffles. I think some old pallet trucks used to have them fitted as well. Anyone out there able to point me at a reliable source of information please. Ed

Lifting from P&V Wallage's "Rebuilding & Tuning Ford's Kent Cross-flow Engine" : they list paint colour rings as

1100 LC : Yellow
1100 HC : Yellow
1100 2V : Red/White
1300LC : Yellow
1300 HC : Yellow
1300 2V : Red/White
1600 2V : Red
