Nothing too exciting about today's update,
Petrol tank out.
Absolutely stunned at how much fuel was still in there even when the warning light was on.
Disconnected from just before the fuel pump as it was the lowest point.

Once I thought it was empty I took the tank out. Warning, mine still had petrol in it, not much but enough to put a puddle on the floor.

Front chassis bolts removed, well 1 anyway, the other was already missing.
A few other odds and sods done but as today's target was fuel tank then I'm going to put it down as a success.
Thanks again to Marcus(you should have got a wedge)1875.

Tonight was engine loom.
Markings make sense to me so I hope don't have to leave someone else to do it wink

Think that's enough to bore you all.
Oh wait, one more.

Also went to visit Ramsay Coach Trimmers in Loanhead, Edinburgh to discuss interiors. Not got a full price yet but as he is the man TVR used in the area many moons ago I don't think I'll find anyone better. He'll also do the roof repairs and new rear window.

Tomorrow it's any connections left under the car.

Top work, looking good so far !

If you haven't already, don't forget the connection for the speedo sensor on the diff. The plug is normally somewhere around the offside top rear damper mounting/offside handbrake bracket (at least it was on my car). Its so easy to miss as its pretty well hidden and hard to spot.

Great rebuild thread. I am looking forward to seeing your naked chassis.smile Yours is a 93 so 22 years of TVR powder coat !!!!!!. Or should l say powder puff the amount of prep TVR did to the chassis it was a complete joke !!!!!.

Thanks guys. It's not the quickest project I've ever taken on but it's been the most satisfying so far.
I've already got the speed sensor on my list of to-dos, after refurbing my diff and putting the sensor back in then I fitted it too close, it rubbed on the diff and killed it. Already bought a replacement for the rebuild.

Parts of the chassis high up in the tunnel look almost brand new but other parts are showing 22 years of rot. Lots of pictures if all goes to plan and the body comes off this weekend.

Any other volunteers ?
The job doesn't stop for a Sunday league team kicking a ball about wink

Anyway, tonight, everything disconnected except steering, brakes and clutch.
Not going to bore you all with lots of pictures of tagged cables hut what you are getting is earth points.

Point 31p, fuel rail earth.

Point 39p rear of block, passenger side.

Passenger side, top of tunnel.

Drivers side, top of tunnel.

All chassis bolts tagged and boxed. I will be replacing them all but better to be safe than sorry.

And finaly for tonight.
This is why I'm doing all this work. This is what I found after removing the bolt.

Yes, that's a patch of body filler and gauze behind to fill the hole in the rotten outrigger.
There are no words frown

Loving the labeling method thumbup

I remember using masking tape on my first restoration (Triumph Herald), with a damp workshop 90% of my labels were unreadable when I put the car back together paperbag

Enter the Dymo labeling machine wink

The body filler structural engineering is a bit erm... scary yikes

Keep the photos coming, great post thumbup

Quick update tonight.
Choked with the man flu and ache from head to toe but couldn't resist a quick trip to the garage.
Set up my new block and tackle ready for the lift.

Labelling those old bolts is a good thing, my new bolt kit had bolts a little longer etc, it's just good piece of mind that you can check them up against the originals,
Cracking job your doing Cokes.

Thanks Alun biggrin
Body off on sunday, hopefully. I've got 1 volunteer so far, thanks to Mark_S_24. Any more are welcome thumbup

The idea of the block and tackle is that I should be able to do it all myself but more hands and eyes the better.
