Depressingly our camp area (nr John Peel Stage) was hit with a load of tent thefts during the night, whilst people were sleeping. Two lone women in our group woke on Wednesday night to find a bloke in their tents shining a torch in their face ("sorry, wrong tent" ...yeah, right), and a couple behind us had 400 quid robbed from their tent during that first night. Light-fingered bds everywhere, not very 'Glastonbury'.
Scumbags, but who the hell a) leaves cash in a tent, or b) had that amount of cash at any one time, there are cash points on site

Was it just me, thinking; "how do you steal a tent when someone is asleep inside it?"

Much as it pains me to say, Phil Campbell isn't what is wrong with Motörhead, it's Lemmy that is letting the side down. He's looking every year of his age, and his health problems are well documented. Sad to see, but it is time to call it a day.
Agreed, Lemmy's not good. His mind seems to ......wander. But when I saw them a few years ago the band was much more in sync with much less virtuoso rubbish from the lead guitarist and ttty small talk, so I'm going to stick with my opinion that the lead guitar is at least 50% to blame.
I was in the field between the mixing tents and thought they were great. Don't understand calls for anyone to call it a day... it you don't want to watch then you shouldn't but any musician or band's career can potentially get to a point where nostalgia takes over. Difficult to see why anyone would begrudge them that, they've put the time in.

Great festival although was my first one so nothing to compare it against. Don't know why I haven't been before but better late than never at the age of 46 and I'll be there again next year.

Highlights for me were Patti Smith, chancing upon a Fat Boy Slim set in a bar in the middle of the afternoon, the outrageous and amazing Fat White Family, the superb Giant Sand and The Libertines. Best bit for me was watching Alabama 3 in the Glade... awesome evening.

Anyone else catch the Arcadia opening ceremony? It was pretty astonishing and I've never seen anything like it. Been trying to find a video online but they're all of last years or crap quality.

Didn't see a massive amount of Glasto this year, but from what I did see the Chemical Brothers and Catfish and the Bottlemen were by far the best performances.

Theft of cash from wallets inside the tent whilst the occupants were asleep. Most people get the message of 'don't leave valuables unattended in your tent', so the thieving bds have upped the ante and just gone for robbing people whilst they sleep. 45 arrests according to Avon & Somerset Police, but that will just be the tip of the iceberg.

There are cashpoints on site, but not much use if your wallet with ATM card is lifted. I just find it a little disconcerting, I've been going for many years and never known it be so rife.

I think the best decision I made all weekend was to abandon ship with the Who after 20 minutes to watch the Chemical Brothers. They were incandescent - and I'm a 63 year old grandparent. A slight air of menace, with distress and parachute flares going off, a few pints being thrown about and the audience going mental.
I didn't see half the bands I meant to, thanks in part to both indolence and fatigue, having not got to bed till 7.00am on Saturday morning after watching my lad play the Unfairground. Am I bothered? Not in the slightest. I got in for free and had pulled in a favour from a friend and the two of us had a nice big 6 berth camper to wallow around in.

Been watching some of the bbc coverage since I got back and I'd say it would be a mistake to judge the performances from that coverage. The sound on some, especially at the park stage, was no where near as good as it was there. All sounded a bit clinical. I'm sure that being there helped enormously but still...

No one's begrudging them anything. I've been an ardent Motorhead fan, and Hawkwind before them, for decades. I've seen Motorhead 6/7 times over the years and in the last three their performance has become significantly worse. Subjective appraisal, that's true. I don't understand your point about nostalgia. Are you suggesting watching a band through rose tinted glasses?

Yep. I think a band gets to a certain point and you're probably there to watch then for old time sake rather than to expect then at their best.

I saw Paul McCartney in 2008 at Anfield yes he was in his 60's and no his voice was not as good as it was when I saw him in 2003 but let me tell you nostalgia or not i will take that memory to the grave.

I don't expect them at their best but If I've paid for a ticket I expect a professional performance. Glasto and earlier this year in Manchester they were very poor, but two years previously in Manchester they were much tighter and clowned around far less. I understand about bands getting old and losing their spark, but this was more they simply weren't that bothered.

This may not stop all thefts, but you just put your wallet, phone, keys etc. in the bottom of your sleeping bag and get in. Then sleep with your feet away from the door. That would stop most thieves unless they want to wake you up and threaten you for it.
