I think it looks good too I'm afraid. Seen it in the flesh as well.

Nah sorry I couldn't care less if it was the best bike ever, I'd be scared to open the garage with that monstrosity waiting for me.

I just can't see how anyone at Yamaha signed that design off

The looks are growing on me, but this bike really deserves to be wearing trackday fairings.
It sounds great from the launch - it only seems to be missing a downshift blipper.

it looks stunning to me, I reckon it will be the one to beat.

As for the front lights, I think it looks good and I don't see the need for massive head lights, why aren't all bikes and cars using LED front head lights and saving space and weight.

Stupid question, how much depreciation would there be on a bike of this type?

A lot, like most things you buy new. but if you worried about losing a few thousand buying new then buy secondhand. You only need to wait a little longer and loose less ££

I like it and would not give it a thought on depreciation as I am having to much fun riding it then worry about £££ wink

Depreciation will entirely depend on demand and supply. Clearly the R1 m or (whatever the premium model is) will suffer no depreciation as Neaves clearly said they have sold the entire allocation and could have done so x amount of times.

As for the standard model the depreciation will entirely depend upon how many Yamaha bring to the uk. If they hold back supply and some of the visually challenged buyers don't care about the front end, it to could lose next to bugger all.

the M will be bought for the most part by people who will never ride it.put it in a box and look at it types who may make some cash if resale goes up.
as for the ugly front end,its far from the worst out there but taste is subjective so stuff and things etc.
it does look like this is a bike to attack wsb and go for a win.
a win may boost sales and lets face it,they want your money!

I've seen it and it looks great to me... but thats not what I buy a bike for. It could have an elephants trunk on the front of it.... I wouldnt care. People who buy sports bikes because of what they look like belong elsewhere...

I have a 2011 R1 and yes it has its faults (weight, steering, size being chief) but that new R1 seems to have got those points licked... I love it. Just need to russle up the cash....

£15k for the normal one.

Shame the R1M is just a limited edition, would like to have seen a full production version with all the gizmo's.

Looks and sounds like a GP bike. Honestly, what's not to like?

People would rather have fish eyes than an attempt to make it look like a GP bike apparently.

Are you serious? People shouldn't consider looks when buying a bike?

Bet your wife is a minger as well but you justify it by her great personality. Jesus wept.

Agreed, when there's so many capable good looking bikes out there why pick the ugliest of the current sport bike range other than wanting to think you're Rossi and it's actually MotoGP tech when it's not by a long shot. It's a bike built to a budget (like they all are) to be built in it's millions
