Suspension lifting

Hi guys. Lifting my old D22 navara shortly.
Bought the shackle kit for the rear, however I've been informed to change the rear shocks for extended ones.

Thoughts and ideas please. Any advice would be great

Yes you also need to change the shocks. Isn't this obvious?

It would seem obvious yes....... But that's why The question was asked as all these " specialist" have never mentioned it when ordering other parts needed

Well the specialist either was not very specialist or assumed you already knew.

The suspension is designed with a certain degree of travel in the springs and dampers. When you fit shackles you've pushed the leaf and axle downward increasing the total span between the damper mounting points. The travel will not have change unless soft springs are also fitted.

While the vehicle is sitting flat the damper will probably _look_ ok, however during articulation one side of the axle will drop and the damper will be extended to its full travel. The full weight of half the axle will be suspended by the damper instead of the spring.

Queue early potential dangerous damper failure.
