Her career high championship finish is arguably 28th in the GP3 series two years ago. I'm assuming however that she hasn't been hired for her driving talents and more for her errr marketing talents.

Discuss.

If you have to ask....she's thinking no.

Regardless. "Do you think she likes a stick shift?"

What you don't see is the wheelbarrow of cash tucked just out of sight. Where does that leave Ocon? Mitch Evans' Twitter response was ace!!!!

She'll grow into that race suit one day.

According to Lotus 'Carmen’s distinctive perspective will serve to further enhance the E23’s evolvement curve.'

Straight from the tome that is 'Ronspeak For Dummies'

Whilst I'm all for seeing some girls in the mix, they need to be at a level that will compete with at least some of the male drivers - I can foresee Susie Wolff doing a half-decent job when she's finally let loose

However, Carmen's best EVER FP3 finish was 13th (in 2012) and her highest championship ranking was 28th (same year - she was 29th and 30th the following two years) - she's never scored a point in three years, which must call into question the motives for signing her

Perhaps they should have tried to coax Danica Patrick over the pond - at least she has a (single) race win to her name

Strewth! 'Equality' has to be based on merit, otherwise it's just another form of discrimination. Ms. Jorda has her attractions but ability behind the wheel of a racing car is not one of them.

What they mean is that if they can build a car in which she can be even reasonably quick, their real drivers will be ballistic.......

....or 'distinctive perspective' is a euphemism for a shed load of cash?

Whilst Simona de Silvestro sits twiddling her thumbs (that's not a euphemism) without a drive.

Although I think Alice Powell is our best chance. If she ever gets a chance.

She certainly looks too small for that racing suit! Still she's a right looker...

Shes a pretty girl but a race driver ? erm...

In GP3 last year she had a best of 17th (all the rest were P20 or below). In 3 years of GP3 thats her second best result.

Dean Stoneman took over the car for the last two rounds and got two wins and a P2 out of it.

Lotus going for PR value here. I doubt if she'll be in the car any time soon.

It'd be interesting to see how much they tighten up the Superlicenee requirements, it would be a bit embarassing if she doesn't qualify for one..

As long as this attitude towards women drivers continues I can't see where the next Michele mouton will come from..

This tweet sums it up for me...

"Hiring Carmen Jorda sends an incredibly negative message about what a woman needs to succeed in Formula 1." by JW_Motorsport

Not likely to be in F1, but Abbie Eaton is a rising talent, she's seriously quick! Also, Simona may be driving for Andretti for at least 1 race this year in IndyCar with any luck. smile

Alice Powell's not even a good club driver. She looked very ordinary in 2013 in the F3 Cup, despite being in one of the strongest teams, and is clearly out of her depth in a proper National F3 or GP3 race.

The next Michele Mouton will, presumably, be a good race driver, unlike the clutch of wannabes being touted at the moment?

  • wears chauvinists hat*
I'd like to insert the starter motor from behind

  • takes off chauvinists hat*
not much of a driving talent, shame really.
