In my experience yes. I have used them for many years and like them, in the past I went most Saturday mornings for a brew and to look at / chat about cars (before my boys had football training on a Saturday).

It looks like a good price to me if as long as it has no hidden stories (ie Cat C/D)
I have a varioram 993 so am biased, they are great cars - I would remove the turbo rear spoiler, it adds nothing to the car, and could no doubt be sold for a few quid.
It would be worth while getting the car checked by some one who knows Porsches. Let us know how you get on.

I think that most Porsche specialists will carry out an inspection if you take the car to them. There are a few in the Yorkshire region, with others in Derbyshire and Licolnshire so depending upon where in South Yorkshire you are you are spoiled for choice.
It will of course depend upon how willing the seller is to accommodate your wishes and take the car to be inspected. I always use Strasse in Leeds, but Leeds is a long way from South Yorkshire for the vendor to travel.

Thinking about it, there is also a chap well known in Porsche circles for offering an on site inspection service, he is called Peter Morgan.
I think that he doesn't personally do every inspection, but uses engineers all over the country if the car is not local to him. I know a guy who had an inspection done by this company, it was a few hundred pounds, and the inspection was limited by the fact that the car could not be examined on a ramp.
If you google Peter Morgan Porsche you will be able to find more out about what he offers.

It did look a good car from the ad and a good price too. I luckily managed to get a 993 around October last year. Good honest car, 66k miles and a good price. A mate who already has a 993 tipped me off, I was the first to view it and done the deal. Good sensibly priced cars are going to go super quick. Good luck with your search.

i've become really smitten by the looks of the 993 this week to be honest. all of these look interesting, but how does the tiptronic car drive, is it a sporty set up and easy to get on with? never had anything like that in any car, always had manuals. also, the white car is lhd, not maybe a massive issue, but i've noticed people starting to import and sell the lhd cars obviously due to the scarceity of rhd manual cars etc. would lhd affect the value long term?

The tiptronic model has always been the cheapest way to get into a 993, but I have never driven one (tiptronic doesn't appeal to me).
The reference you make to top end rebuilds in a previous post, are you talking about 964's?
For years the 964 was the black sheep of the 911 family (before the 996 took over that role). They had a reputation to leak oil, mine did for the whole 6 or 7 years I owned it.
I believe the leaks was caused by the engines gasketless construction between the block and heads. There were rubber o rings that sealed the where the rods passed through, these became brittle and they leaked.
My 964 leaked and needed a re build at 70 thousand miles when I bought it,(I purchase it cheap as I knew it leaked oil).

yes it might well be the 964, a couple of the cars are advertised as having the top end refresh being done, but not at mega miles, which worries slightly! The reference you make to top end rebuilds in a previous post, are you talking about 964's?

the more cars i look at, the more the 993 C2 looks good, which coincides with their being no cheap minters around lol

If it's been done on a car for sale that has bills to prove from a reputable Porsche specialist then why worry....?At least that should be a job that you're not going to have a bill for (or not for a long, long while)
