Came through a speed camera van speed check this morning at 43mph on the sat nav, and 45mph on the speedo in a 40.

Whats their margin there before they'll do you?

I'm hoping 10%?

That table is not for Scotland where education is not desirable it seems... so no classes, straight to 3 pts/fine.

Still only "guidelines" though . Many on here will treat it as gospel.

True. On a speed awareness course my wife was told the legal limit is exactly that. There was someone on her course for doing 32 in a 30. Hopefully the police show a little discretion and static cameras are set slightly high (?) to account for discrepancies.

Former Chief Con of South Yorkshire (the one who was done for 90-ish by Brunstrom's lot) set a number of South Yorkshire cameras to trigger at 32.

I thought this was a rumour until I met three people who had a fixed penalty for 32.

32 mph speeding tickets are a bit like Bigfoot. There's anecdotal evidence to suggest that they exist, but nobody has ever produced any proof.

These were three unconnected middle aged/pensioner men and women who had little interest in driving. When queried, all were adamant it was 32 and all were pretty well pissed off.

Beyond that I can offer no proof, but they're not the kind of people I would doubt.

I don't doubt that you were told 32 or that those people thought it was 32. I've heard the same thing from various clients but when I receive the case papers - 35 or 36.

They sure do...either that or they want to perpetuate a mischevious myth.

I'm sure I was only just over the limit, it couldn't be more than 32.

On another forum I frequent a former traffic cop who takes a few speed awareness courses to supplement his meagre pension mentioned that he sometimes starts his sessions by asking everyone to introduce themselves by telling everyone their name and the speed they were caught at. As it happens, he already knows the speed everyone was caught at because it's printed on the list of attendees that he gets. Apparently there are always a few people who claim to have been done for a lower speed than they actually were.
