So I have the above warning message - strange thing is though when I plug my OBD reader in there are no error codes!

Anyone got an idea what to do next apart from the obvious which is visit an AM dealer?

can you reset it on your OBD II reader? I can on mine. Had it re-occuring every 6 months for a couple of years. Finally traced it to an O2 sensor. £70 off ebay and an hours labour at mates garage later its been fine since

I have tried but as I do not get any error messages it does not reset!

Wrong ODB port or incompatible reader?

You could be right - I have been trying the one on drivers side. I have seen mention of another port on the passenger side so will look for one there as well!

they are only a few inches apart, easy mistake to make, worth a check
