Well after a terrible day it would seem to be the end of my long 18 year love affair with TVR Wedges. After a long wait to get the front of the car resprayed and minor repairs I was lucky to walk away from an accident today. Driving along at about 20 mph in traffic when a idiot in a Focus drove full pelt into the back of the Gredge.... He hit me so hard that he pushed the car into the rear of a Mercedes in front. Really shuck up after such a hard impact but was ok.

Given the fixed value of the car and the amount of the damage, I expect the car to be written off. So my feeling is that given that I was expecting to move abroad for my early retirement at the end of year my TVR journey is now at an end earlier than expected. Clearly we will see what the repairs are likely to be but experience tells me that there is close to £4 - 5K which will be over the repair threshold on my value / insurance.

So a sad day and after the inital rage of a boy racer in a Focus hitting the car, and realising that I was lucky to just be shuck up, reflection says that it is time to hang up my TVR keys and move on.

Here is the sad pictures:

That is absolutely terrible but at least no one is seriously hurt. You must be gutted because I know I would be. Wait and see what happens with the insurance and then play it by ear I guess. There is always the option of buying another. After all this time it'll seem odd not owning or driving a wedge. I hope it all turns out ok for you. All the best.

Sorry to hear the bad news but as all have said at least you are okay. I'd never had the pleasure of seeing the Gredge up close but certainly heard it a few times on video. A real stunner.

Oh my that's terrible Chris. So glad to hear though that you are not seriously hurt. I would give it a few days if you can, so that your head can clear a bit and you can get over the initial shock, before you decide what to do with the gredge.

Hope you're ok Chris - sometimes things can take a day or so to reveal themselves. All that time, effort and money that you put into the Gredge as well......

I wouldn't mind betting that the other driver was using his phone - it's not as if your car is difficult to see or hear.

Wish you well.

Car can be fixed, you'll need to keep an eye on your back/neck over the next few days. Well. perhaps not your eye.

What was the damage to the front of the Wedge?

Thanks for the comments guys .... appreciated.

The front ...

Not too bad given its just been repaired and sprayed...

The key here is that it can be repaired I am sure, but I have no doubt that the cost will be over the repair threshold. so end of line I guess. We will see what the quotes are and take it from there.

FFS...Glad you are okay mate but FFS...In the last couple of months there has been what seems to be a epidemic of bumper hanging inexperienced slap jawed s..Coming back from Ipswich earlier i nearly got run into a ditch down a pitch black country lane with a fking retard so close to the rear i couldn't see his front lights...I nearly lost control on a blind bend trying to get some more space between us..He ended up overtaking me and nearly ditched it himself..I really fking wish he had because i can guarantee i would of got out the car regardless of how badly injured he would of been and punched him in the face a few times just to make sure he is in pain...Chris I'm truly gutted for you mate as i only see you and the Gredge yesterday..

If it were me i would take the little st to the cleaners...Whiplash the lot...These king of the road wannabe dip sts need to learn a hard lesson before they kill somebody..FFS...
