Not the most classy thread but back in the day when I was a yoof I'm not ashamed to say that I used to 'read' Max Power and Fast Car magazine and the likes. What stands out from memory is the scores of glossy pics of girls showing their 'assets' off next to cars. Whatever happened to this trend, has it gone out of fashion.

I'm sure Fast Car still has semi undressed wenches in, not bought one for a good few years though so I may be wrong.

To be honest I haven't bought a magazine in years, do the likes of Max Power still exist?

Max Power isn't going any more.

I bought the last issue for old times sake.

Wasn't the point of FHM to be a slightly more respectable porn mag, and given that you can now get free hardcore porn online 24 hours a day, it no longer serves a purpose.

To be fair most of the girls were pretty hideous close up with the exception of Jackie Degg. You only had to go to Trax or similar and wonder who you used to drool over them

Same here. Plus my mates car was in it aswell.

Crazy to think how big that magazine, and the whole modified car scene used to be. The cars are mostly better now but the scene just isn't as entertaining anymore. Shame really.

Insurance and cheap desirable crap cars killed the modifying scene. Kids who can afford insurance these days are probably poncing around in a limited edition Corsa. The same model their mates have.

Shame, I miss it (the modifying scene) even though you had to wade through lots of really sh*t cars to actually find something appealing.

I'm not condoning it, but certainly when I was younger few people bothered to declare their mods since the increases in premiums made the risk worthwhile and I'm sure it's still widespread today. Not to mention the increasing complexity of modern cars. Fitting a sub and amp used to be a job that could be done in a few hours, now you'd have to take half the dash apart. No more popping down the scrappy and pulling bits off a higher spec model (normally teetering on top of a stack of 3 other cars) either
