Seized 'cos the driver didn't have a valid licence, allegedly:

Shouldn't the thread title be "Seizure of uninsured ferrai" confused

Or does that give the wrong impression?

Because, of course, it's really easy to get insurance for a Ferrari for somebody with no licence...

I'd imagine it is a piece of cake? I don't remember being asked to provide evidence for my licence during insurance?

I'd imagine it will be a technical infringement of some sort, rather than an outright no licence but who knows?

I had my car lifted for no insurance and I was actually insuered, so st happens. I hated the notices they stick all over it proudly pronouncing in advance of any conviction or due process that Cheshire police are taking offenders off the road. Thanks Cheshire police for the defamation smile I complained but got nowhere.

I've had to send copies of my licence a few times for new policies, mainly to prove points (or lack of)

It seems that the car was on German plates, so may have been hard to check for insurance.

Well, you could lie about your licence, of course. But you'll quickly find your insurance void when they find out.

I'll bet there's more to it than that...

Oh dear.

As well as the correct stuff that's been posted since many insurers are now asking for your driving licence number at quote stage and cross referencing it to check its real and that you are being honest with your points history.

Most insurance policies state that for the policy to be valid the driver must hold, or have held and not be disqualified from holding, a licence to drive the vehicle.
Fairly self-explanatory really.

Yup - you can speculate all you want, but TVP said "In a statement, police said: "Officers pulled over a Ferrari 458... at 09:15 GMT, after receiving reports that a car had been driving quickly up the motorway.

"It transpires the driver had no licence, so the car was seized and he was dropped off at the nearest point of safety.

"He was reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.""

No mention of being reported for no insurance.

Does it say the driver was German anywhere?

Did they ask for it though? In a few months it'll be more compulsory, or face a "no quote offered", or much higher premium. After all, nobody should have anything to hide around that.

I know, but it doesn't say the driver was German
