Speedometer Removal..?
Discussion
Not sure if it is identical to an S1 but yes! The only issue as Philpott suggests is clearance to the column. I found I had just enough with the switch cowl off. Speedo is held in by two long screws with spacers and nuts on the end, they may well be knurled hand nuts rather than hex nuts. There is either a large central speedo cable to unscrew or a wiring connector to split. There will also be one or probably two illumination bulb holders pressed into the rear body of the speedo. I found I could do this by feel as there was sufficient room. A mirror and a torch helped me work it out first.
Once disconnected the speedo will push forward and just wiggle out. If it is cable driven beware, there may be some oil at the back so take care not to mark anything.
While mine was out I took the opportunity to change the bulb colour (to amber in my case, many have used blue) to reduce reflection on the screen at night.
