That's all we need, daft old busy bodies with nothing better to do than go around pretending to be dirty harry. Half of them wouldn't be able to use their phone correctly let alone a speed gun.

ISTR that everywhere else that has tried this has discovered that the locals who complain loudest about speeding are amongst the worst offenders.

You get a letter telling you off and that is it; I had one a few years ago, wasn't Yorkshire it was Surrey.

I should imagine a great portion of the recorded speed is made up with these old biddies shaking so much.

Local foot plod in Rothwell have a "speed camera in a box" type of kit, quite often see them lugging it about, Stybank Lane seems a favourite

spot for them to set it up, the case is quite big so guess they can't be arsed going too far from the station

They'll complain about speeding on the street they live on but are probably quite happy to break the limit elsewhere!

To be fair, its not actually that bad of an idea. These people will probably be prolific complainers who the Police are fed up of so give them a speed gun and let them find them find out for themselves how bad the problem actually isnt!
