Took the Griff to S&D and D&C Trim on Saturday and stayed overnight before heading back by train to Swindon yesterday. For any of you taking your wives or partners found a real gem of a place right in the town near the sea front called The Redstone in Alexandra Road. Now I know what most of you are thinking and have reported here before - but it is what you make it as a weekend - Yes there are a load of tack shacks along the sea front and people have decided to stay at The Premier 'just around the corner' from Bristol Avenue, purely for convenience and to avoid all the commercialism down near the pier. Well the Redhouse has been TOTALLY gutted and rebuilt, superbly well finished off and well worth a stay - As you do... I found it on Tripadviser (and I know you can't always believe what you read on there too!) it's absolutely TOPS - attention to detail, extremely clean, only 8 rooms, £80 for the immaculate room (complete with wet room) and two FULL breakfasts. Fresh coffee and cake on arrival. The Hilton doesn't come any where near it! Would I stay there again... Very much so! As for somewhere to eat in the evening and should you like Chinese - try the Manderin in Clifton Street, bit of a walk away. Again very good reviews and can confirm this with the quality of food and level of service. Both places were full on the night, booked well in advance and would not of been possible to get in on the spur of the moment - says it all!

Thanks for sharing that Paul.
Am planning on going up to S&D at some point in the future, so it's good to know where you can stay and know that it's going to be ok.
Sounds like you are having a total refurb, both inside and out from your other thread.

You could have at least give it a quick wipe over with a damp rag before posting a pic Nigel. laugh
