Mirror driving me mad 3000M
Discussion
Since having a new windscreen fitted in October I simply cannot get rear view mirror to stay on it has has fallen off six or seven times now...have tried superglue, the five quid glass/ mirror stuff from the local spares place & backed it it up with tape..it still falls off ! I follow the instructions and clean glass with alcohol/ white spirit and sand down the metal part of mirror each time .
Should i give up & buy a lightweight sucker style -no jokes please- & hope it stays on? Ironically on old windscreen it stayed on with a single shaped sticky pad costing a quid. Needless to say have tried that too on new screen it falls off before you have even locked the door....
Have now wedged & taped to screen on the dashboard not ideal but total exasperation/ mental illness is imminent I fear (I have been driving 40 yrs & never had this problem before honest, doctor.....)

By the above, I guess you've tried swearing and calling it names ?
Seriously tho;
- degrease window location (not a convex area, too close to the roof)
- allow alcohol/degreaser to evaporate
- get a 'quid' pad, remove 1 side of wrap, apply some drops of superglue
- stick to window
- allow them to get 'used' to each other............
- next hour/day/week (when gathered braveness) remove other wrap
- stick on mirror, hold it, still, for a few minutes, and.......
Hope for the best !

stuck mine on with clear silicone sealant and its still on after 20 years . carefully scrape off the old double sided sticky pad ,apply a blob of silicone place the mirror in the desired position on the wind screen hold in place with a few strips of sticky tape until the silicone is dried , then remove the tape and jobs a good un !(hopefully)
had problems with mine, tried sticky pads scrounged from a screen fitter so presumably good quality and not old stock, thoroughly de-greased glass, Acetone, warmed glass with hair drier before sticking together.... best effort lasted about 2 days!
Bought some Loctite 319 ... Job Done
