I need a paint shop in the south-east to give my Chimaera a front-end respray. Anyone know a good quality paint shop?

By the way, I tried Raven Automotive (Crawley) and their number is 'not accepting calls' according to the recorded message. Have they gone?

Try P.R.Wood Motor Bodies in Southend, Essex. He specialises in TVR's.

I have just received my Chimaera back from Webb's (TVR Bodyshop), Bristol. A bit of a hike from London but nevertheless I found it worth it because they did a cracking job. Will post pics when I get film developed.
BTW Jason Webb at TVR Bodyshop told me last week that TVR have just sanctioned a material for applying to the car before the respray which really reduces stone chips apparantly. You might want to give him a call to get the low down.

What prices have you been quoted for the front end respray? Most models should be similar - mines a 4.5 cerby.

Depends on the paint. For my Starmist Silver Chimaera Webb's charged 550 quid. Chameleon paint? Got any equity in your house...

Our demostrator, a Griffith 500, is at Webbs/TVRbodyshop having their light conversion and a front end 'tidy up'. It will be at Duxford next week end, come and judge yourself how good the work is.

No, just serious chips!!

If its anything like the MX5 I had before, once you respray it once, the car seems a lot more resistant to chips again. I think the factories have to use water-based paints, but smaller bodyshops can get away with using cellulose ones.

I may be talking crap tho.

Either way the car looks awful, and its going on the stand at Reading on the 1st and I want it to be nice and shiny

I've just been quoted £600 plus VAT for the Chimaera in Cooper Green metallic by Bee Gee Coachcraft in Chessington (020 8397 6080). It's booked in for two weeks' time.

I was told this very thing at a bodyshop last week. It seems that the water based paints are just a lot more prone to chipping. Now whether there is a solvent based equivalent of all water based colours I just dont know.
