That got your attention.

Now that I have the exhaust, trailing arms, and fuel tank removed from my S1, it seems like a good time to drop the transmission and install a limited slip differential (LSD) and some polyurethane differential supports. Does anyone have an opinion on the benefits of handing for the S1 with one installed?

This is a local source that appears to have an interesting product.

that looks like a very good deal - depending on p+p to UK

The plate type ARE noisy inn operation - creaking and groaning at low speeds, but they are good and if you intend to track it they are the best type to have

I'm fitting a Cosworth diff to the S1. The output ratio is identical to the original, which is why it appealed. Had to have custom driveshafts made to take 108mm inner CV joints though, so it wasn't cheap.

No idea if it was worth it, car is still in bits! laugh Used to spin an inner wheel up quite a lot in the wet before though, and a sports car without an LSD just seems kinda......wrong!

I got the differential out of the car right now ... how's progress on the new short shifter coming?

Here's the new limited slip from MC2 Racing with ring gear attached. I went with the Detroit True-Trac unit.

Output shafts machined, cleaned, and painted. You can see the one on the left has been machined while the one on the right has a spacer added. Machining Work done by Chris Grayson at MC2 Racing.

Its an amazing difference in the damp / wet. In the dry you'll do well to notice.

I really noticed when I was catching Andy in the green with yellow stripe 'wannabe a lotus' S3 at Blyton last year when it was drizzly and raining.

In the dry he was much the same.... but not blue like mine.

Don't be tempted to get one that had the pressure pushed up...not a good move in the light S.

Sorry mate I missed this. Short-shifter is not so short. It improves the ease of getting it into reverse without having to push the lever into the side of the centre console, but I'm not sure if it sufficiently 'shortens' the shift enough to warrant making them and selling them (in other words, I'd be worried people would struggle to notice the difference!) It is shorter and tighter, but not massively so. Maybe get a few guys to try it over the summer and if enough people think it's much better, we'll make a run of them.

It's definitely better, I'm just not sure how much better. You going to Burghley?
