Looking back is the definitely the worse thing. It throws you off line it worries the guy behind you and just makes it all generally unpredictable. Just book one go in novices don't worry about anyone else. If they're behind you it's their job to pass you safely you just do your thing. Clear your head focus on what your doing and if you don't enjoy it at least you gave it another shot.
Cheers Tim, hopefully I can enjoy like you seem to be. We will see.LoonR1 said:
I've seen plenty of crashes but people knocking others off is very, very rare. Dont worry about it, when people want to go past they tend to make it amd if you close the door, most will be able to stop anyway
Yea cheers loon, it is all between my ears! If I don't change this time I will leave it as not fair on others on track.the_nurse46 said:

Don't be daft. Novice group is called novice for a reason and it's up to everyone riding to show respect to others on the track. I'm not sure if I know anyone who will be instructing at Donington, but go out with an instructor and talk him through your fears. They are very good at helping you focus on overcoming it. I'm doing Sat 21st March at oulton if anyone fancies that one. Weekend days are rare at Oulton so two in a few weeks is a miracle.
Booked .... "team practise" ! First time out on track together, here we go ...!Edited by LoonR1 on Thursday 5th March 19:07

Yep good advice loon. Too be fair BN's sentence about looking back has really hit it home with me. Picture made me chuckle.
He's right though. You have to be looking where you want to go. No traffic, no need for lifesavers, fold your mirrors in, or take them off, tape up the speedo so you're not tempted and open the throttle. Yazza54 said:

Shame I won't be seeing many of you there, Lincsblokey if you see someone tiptoeing round the novice group on a green zx6r come and say hello!
Just took the bike in for MOT this morning and the winter lay off has done me no favours.

WTF has happened this year? People meeting up on trackdays, people saying they're defintiely in for rideouts in the warmer months.
This is weird, normally everyone talks the talk amd then never walks the walk.
I'm expecting the southern thread to involve lots of tea and cucumber sandwiches.
