I fear for my kids when I see stories like this. Someone just stabs him with no warning. Looks like the scum wanted the bikes.

Third fatal teenage stabbing in 5 months in Islington but you won't see Thornberry scourning that little fact on her Twitter feed.

Horrendous when you see this as the animal doesn't even bother to push him off just goes straight in with knife to the chest.

Stealing the bike seems almost an afterthought for the scum.

I was there the day before working. It's a very expensive area but like the rest of London, there are pockets of chav scum housing everywhere. I live in a similar area south of the river.

Many of my friends kids have been mugged and threatened with knives once they were old enough to be let out on their own. One was very badly beaten.

One of my sons has reached the age where he likes to go out with his mates to the common or the shops. He wouldn't stand a scooby in a fight situation frown

Thing is, the area is fine, its about 1 min walk from Guardian offices, and the huge new complex where Google are going to be etc, the area these days is actually pretty good on the whole. I used to play football on top of the council block where Copenhagen St meets Cali road, never felt unsafe there.

I almost think that's better. Just give the stuff up.

As someone who lives in London, I decided a long time ago that if someone wants my phone, wallet etc, they can have it. It's not worth it.

I'm sure a lot of kids might think they can argue or fight back, which sadly may not end well. (No assumptions made about your kids btw, just general kid's attitudes and lack of life experience!)

Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

What are the chances of finding the scumbag?

Just hope every single one of them end up being done to the maximum penalty possible. What a waste of human life, poor kid frown

Can't imagine the effect it will have on the lives of his mates involved too.

Scumbags. Every one of them will hopefully be dragged through by association.

Doesn't look like the poor lad had a chance to give up his bike. I know it happens but I just can't understand why/how someone can just go and kill somebody for no reason.

I know exactly where it is. I lived in E3 for 15 years. There's scum everywhere, sadly, but one incident in isolation wouldn't prompt the same reaction from me...YMMV

Local bullies took my bike off me when I was 12yo. I'd built the bike up myself with the help of my Dad from bits and pieces, including painting the frame and forks. The lead-bully then turned on me, wanting me to fight for the bike but I hadn't a clue how to fight at that age, so I was beaten, although I did get my bike back.

I subsequently went to classes to learn how to fight. It toughened me up but the consequence is I'm now cynical and street wise. Many people think that's a good thing but now that I have my own son, I hate the fact that he might be subjected to this sort of attack

My son's a gentle lad and I would love him to stay this way. The world doesn't need more disrespectful hard cases however, fearing for his future, I sent him to a local karate class but after a couple of years he hadn't taken to it and stopped. I'm pleased he isn't changing into another version of me but it means I will be on the look-out for him for longer than my parents needed to for me. Although I gladly accept the role of "protector" there will come a time when I'm not there, and I fear I'm not preparing him well for life away from me.

I sincerely hope justice is served with vengeance for this poor lad. frown

I sent my lad to karate for a while but he just didn't have what is needed. Just had him on the phone to me because of bullying at school.

His mum sent him to an expensive private school because she thought that he wouldn't survive the local comp but it just seems that there are horrible kids in all walks of life. frown

Any body can do Brazilian Jujitsu - it's safe and perfectly suitable for all levels.

Anybody can do karate, too. I think the issue is that croyde's son lacks self-esteem or something. Sounds like he has "victim" written across his forehead. Perhaps he needs to stick to whatever martial art until it changes him somewhat?

First chap on bike in blueish top, guy comes from behind silver vw sharon, stabs him then the boy rides out of camera shot but then collapses.

The attacker doesn't even go after that bike he walks down the road and jumps on the back of one of the other bikes they stole.

Oh, right. Didn't stand a chance. You could be a black with gold stripes and diamonds belt in BJJ, Sambo and KM. You'd still be lying in a coffin right now.

I could weep.

I wish we could bring back capital punishment. Maybe it would deter some of this unbeleivable behaviour if it was a life for a life.

A senseless act, no value for life, the attacker should be hanged. I would pull the rope and not lose a seconds sleep knowing such scum had been removed from this earth.

Sadly - it doesn't end when you leave school either.

Just like at school - workplace bullies know how to play the system, hide their antics, cover their arses - all so they can get away with it. Speak up as a victim of workplace bullying and you'll often end up being marked as a trouble maker or snitch - just like at school.
