I'm new to Masers so would welcome any insights from seasoned owners. Looks a beauty, so wonder why it hasn't been snapped up? Or is there something you all know that isn't so obvious to a newbie!?

Thanks

I can't see anything obvious, apart from the interior being the colour of David Dickenson.

Mileage is higher than the other 4.7s, but not by much and really that isn't such a big deal on a Maser.

Some people prefer the MC shift, some the full auto.

Have an ask over on sportsmaserati.com - plenty of advice on there.

If interior is Bordeaux then the photos do not accurately match the true colour. Thankfully Bordeaux is nicer than appears in the photos.

Personally, I'd avoid the skyhook. It's a matter of personal choice - try both before you buy.....

As mentioned above the mileage is higher than most, although this is a very early MC-Shift so not completely unreasonable and better that the car has been driven than sat around. For me the interior would be an issue but others may not be bothered and I would also prefer a non-skyhook car, I think it is better resolved, but is again personal preference. My guess is the mileage and interior colour have put a few potential buyers off, but the Masers can handle the mileage and if you are happy with the colour, suspect it is a good buy.

I prefer skyhook and auto but it's personal as has been said. Bear in mind that a non skyhook 4.7 might have the standard or the MC (essential Stradale) fixed rate set up. Great cars BTW as long as you choose the gearbox/suspension that suits you.

Thankyou; plenty to consider there. Just need to start getting out there and having a look at some. Not sure it'll be that easy to get drives to judge what my preference would be re suspension and transmission. Suspect the right car (condition and colour) at the right price will be the first priority. Thanks again.

Hi Rog, what happened to the Ferrari idea?!?!
I think you're Midlands based, I know that car isn't main dealer money, however smit8361 on here works at Maserati in Solihull. He's a top guy, I met him a couple of months ago and chated about my M135i, my old Z4M Coupe (he's got one) and my Elises that I used to get serviced there. I'm sure he could offer some good pointers and maybe test drives to get a feel of the different models?

To be honest, the GT caught my imagination more than a 360 because it was different (and probably more useable more often). Plus, with family friendly rear seats and that noise, what's not to like!?

And thanks for the tip; I do intend to pop down to Solihull (and also up to Derby) to have a closer look around. A test drive would be nice...

And they've only gone and dropped the price since my post! By a few grand too! Is that interior really that bad?

The gearbox is the main one to get right. The MC Shift is like the old SMG on a BMW or R Tronic on an R8 etc. Have you driven one of the those types of gearboxes? The auto on the 4.7 allows full manual control with the paddles (the 4.2 does not) so bear that in mind.

Most GranTurismos have skyhook (it is standard fit on the 4.7 auto) and very few have the MC Sportline (Stradale) set up other than the, well, Stradale. I just mentioned it as some do.

It's a Nuvola car and I'd wager that it is a good one. I've known Nareman for a few years now and I've bought and sold two Maseratis through his company.

He is very particular about the cars he trades.

He is a thoroughly decent and honourable chap who knows Maseratis as well as anyone. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you, OP.

I second Naremans integrity and reputation. This will be a cracking car, its just a case of the mileage being highish

I think there are very very few cars without Skyhook.

If you want one you need to look for one with the handling pack upgrade. This essentially gives you the Stradale setup and weight distribution.

My car has it. But I am not selling (yet!).

Again auto or MC Shift. You need to drive it and see what you prefer. I chose the MC Shift as I preferred the rawness and more involving drive. You need to work at it to drive the car smoothly. It is not just click click of the gear change.

Which I prefer. Horses for courses.

Good luck in whatever you choose to buy.
