The most you have paid for a car?
Discussion
We're old school, save for what you want, work hard; when you've spent it, start putting money away for the next one. Haven't had a car loan since the 90's. It's all about cost to change when you're on the ladder.
Cash reserves taken a bit of a pounding in the last 18 months with new Touareg, Tuscan and 500 tho'.

As I sit in the train station waiting for my train to take me to view a car today, I realised that upto now, i have never paid more than £5450 for a car, which was my last car (M5). The car that I am looking at today is £5800 which will be the most that I will have ever paid for a car.
I've always owned my cars and paid cash. In this current climate of leasing, pcp etcetera, I expect that outright ownership of car is dropping a lot.
So what's the most that you have paid in cash for your car? Lease, pcp etcetera isn't applicable to this question.
I would never pay more than about £5000 on a car in cash. Once passed that price the depreciation makes leasing something more sensible imho. I've always owned my cars and paid cash. In this current climate of leasing, pcp etcetera, I expect that outright ownership of car is dropping a lot.

Edit: Tell a lie. I bought the M3 CSL, that was £31500 as a sort of trade buy through Romans, and I knew that I could only make money on that car, which I did. But out of my 40 odd cars that is the only one I can think of, that was more than about £5k was a 528i I bought back in 2000. Thought I had bought that at the bottom of the depreciation curve at £15k for a 3 year old one, but still lost £6000 in 18 months, could have leased a new 530i for under £300 a month at the time.

My old Testarossa was £85k over 20 years ago back when that was still big money. Then wife & kids came along and in 2012 I paid 20k for a fking Ford Galaxy. Those are the two most expensive. My M5 actually cost me less than the Galaxy. Ah well, it's only money.

£44k on a cayman and sell for less than half after 3 years would be quite easy in 2009. I bought my 2005 boxster in 2008 when it was 2 and a half years old. It was advertised at £26500 for 3 weeks,I went to see it and offered £20,000. She replied, Oh I couldn't accept that,I paid £34000 for it 12 months ago. Okay then. She phoned 24 hours later asking if my offer still stood. So that was me and that was by far the most I had paid for a car. I kept it until September 2013 and sold it for £10500. £9500 depreciation in 5 years. The most I had paid for a car and the most I have lost on a car. Bought a 993 Carerra in October 13 so its looking like a profit this time!!
Eleven grand for a Clio Cup 200, the car I currently own. T'was a second/fun/weekend motor when I bought it but the leased car I was using as a work hack has gone back and my mileage has collapsed totally (from 500 miles a week to around 80-90) so I'm just getting by with the Clio at the moment. Tis' a great little car.
The least, five hundred quid for a Saxo I bought on ebay in 2007, after I first passed my test, t'was an S Reg in an awful burgundy colour, I can't even remember if it was a 1.0 or 1.1! Great for tooling about in at the age of 18.

For me, the most expensive would be £21,750 for a 03 BMW 330ci Clubsport back in 2005. Loved it, but ended up trading it in against an A3 TDI after 3 years of ownership as my commute at the time was piling on the miles and emptying my wallet in fuel. Now house ownership has somewhat dented that level of car budget :/
Cheapest car - A 96 Golf VR6 I recently took as a part ex against my old Golf R32 to get me around for a bit. It's done 63k miles from new (just 2 owners) and whilst the bright red paint isn't as good as it once was and the clutch is a bit worn, it's just flown through an mot with no advisories and drives very well for a 20 year old car. I gave £500 for it unseen...

Most I've paid was approx £29,000 for our current Tiguan, bought new last year,
this was without any part ex due to the car it replaced not being worth much so we gave it away,
so £29k is the biggest single outlay.
I seem to average between £20-£30K each time , my previous biggest purchase was £26k for a new merc, (also without any part ex), which was replaced 6 months later with merc AMG at nearly £30k, but the 1st merc was used as the part ex so the outlay wasn't that great.
I kept that for nearly 5 years then parted it out for a Ford Focus at £8100, which lasted 3 years and became the part ex for my current car, a VW Scirocco which was for sale at just under £24K, I think I paid £17K + the focus,
The least I've ever paid was £75.00 for a Fiat, but that was a long time ago.
