You could try Peter S Taylor & Co. He is now a supporter of the Corvette Club and has a 71 Vette himself.
He seems to be a lot cheaper than the usual suspects.
Give him a call and say someone from the Corvette Club gave you the number, worth a try.

The number is 01273 820303.

The A plan qoute is the highest at £598 but it not all about the cheapest qoute.

Sky is £560 and flux is £510 i do 12k mileage.
A Plans underwriter must have changed their tune. They always were competitive, but they didn't even want to quote me this year, so I stuck with Need to insure who use ERS as the underwriter.

I have gone with needtoinsure as they undercut the flux qoute with a better package.

It is the same underighter as sky and A plan and is over £100 cheaper.

A plan totally messed up, Matthew seemed ok but looking at the proposal he got the reg of my car wrong, my no claims bonus grew by 2 years and the car was very wrong.

To say that the underwriter is the same as need to insure it was shocking that A plan was £98 dearer.

That's a shame. frown We're with A Plan, and have found them very good up until now. Maybe we'll look around at renewal time. cool

Hey guys,

I'm with admiral, easiest insurance company i have dealt with. Used to be with AF and they were good for a few years but started increasing prices for no reason on my old car and expected over £2k for the vxr8 when admiral did it for £550ish

I thought i'd put up my experience of sky insurance from september 2012. This is the post from the hyundai coupe forum which i was a member at the time. I have and will never deal with Sky insurance again.

My post: Do Not Touch Sky Insurance
Automattick said:
"Sorry guys i don't think I'm meant to put it here and perhaps could chose better words but i must say that i have never been so [annoyed] at a company so I'm trying to keep it as clean as possible.

I never really complain that much online but you guys are the first i thought of telling, well after trying to ring sky back to complain but not getting an answer must have just missed closing time.

So my renewal is up and i have spoken to AF who i am currently with and they said we cant do any better at the moment so give others a ring and come back.

So sky insurance have been ringing me a few times when i was in work and i asked them to ring back which they didn't.

So i gave a ring myself last night but it was a bit late and we didn't have time for a quote due to the mods list so the guy said he'd ring me back today between 11.30 and 12 that guy seemed fine.

12 o'clock came and went and nothing so i ring again get put on to another guy who says the original person who was dealing with it wasn't available so he put me onto someone else.

Update my details from the previous years quote and am about to get a new quote when he asks will i be accepting this quote now on the phone and i replied well i'd first like to compare it with my current renewal company first and then decide. He says OK he's just going to speak to his supervisor.

Couple of minutes later this supervisor called Luke comes back on and tells me: -

" Because your going to go back to Adrian Flux we are withholding the quote from you! We are not a comparison site and just go back to AF and tell them Luke from sky gave you a quote of £300 or £500 or what ever you like and i bet they'll beat it by £4.50 if that's the type of company you want to be with then fine."

But this guy was just simply [terrible] his attitude towards me was like a kid throwing a tantrum because i wasn't going to accept the quote on the spot which could have come back £500 cheaper of £500 more expensive but he expected me to accept it non the less.

He was very dismissive when i was trying to ask well if i go back to AF can i come back and have a quote then, and i didn't get an answer which gave me the impression of NO.
I even tried telling them i don't have the intention of going with AF i just want to see what they'll do for me and that I've had no problem doing this before with sky but still i just had an [idiot] on the the end of the line.

Now to me this pretty much says sky does not allow you to shop around for a good deal and if you do they don't want your business. Well to be honest i will not be going to sky in the future and i will go out of my way to encourage as many people to not go with them as well. Every time someone is talking about insurance i am going to make sure that they are put off to the best of my ability using only the truth of how i was treated.

I gave AF a ring straight afterwards and told them that sky insurance had withheld a quote from me because i was going to come back to you (AF). I said that sky told me to say that Luke from sky insurance had given me a quote of £300 or £500 and that you (AF) would beat it by £4.50 the nice lady said she's have a chat the the supervisors about it.

Now i was completely honest with AF and did not expect them to take those quotes as real but wanted to see what they thought and see what they would do. So the lady comes back and says well we cant accept those as quotes and i quickly informed her that i did not expect her to but asked them if they could make my renewal quote any better at all since I've brought many people to them in the past.

She said that she'd go speak again to supervisor, couple of minutes later she came back with a cheaper quote due to waving the admin fee of £30 as a good will gesture giving me £803 which is still more expensive than last year (£769) but not as expensive as it was going to be. Although she did say they will not be doing anymore and if i don't take it now then the deal's off the table s they are not going to play games with sky.

What i am a little confused about is that i rang AF earlier in the week asking if they could waver the admin fee due to bringing them so much business and they said we did it last year so are not doing it again. But the lady today said although they would not usually do this they are going too this time.

So in the space of a day i had my entire confidence in insurance company's wiped out by a bunch of [idiots] only to have it restored a little bit by a nice lady at AF who i said should have a gold star for helping me out.

Yet I'm still well put off by insurance companies now and don't want to deal with any if i can help it.

I know some people have had good quotes off Sky well all i can say is good luck with customer service and you must have caught them before the [idiot] Shift Started.
Chris"
If anyone wants I can provide sky's replies too.

Pritty much they said they had flagged me as using them to price match which i would do with any insurance as if it means getting a better price and not having the hassle of changing insurance than all th better.

Cheers,
chris

The Flux quote was very close on price but all the add on's would have made it dear.

I am with flux for the kitcar and have been with them for the past 4 years.

The trouble with owning the 8 is it is my first year with this kind of car, so maybe it will come down in price year 2 onwards.

If it does not come down then £495 is not that bad of a price anyway and is just less than a years road tax lol.

Matthew at A plan did say that they would not be that competitive on price to me in the first place, but could do a lot better deal on my kitcar, as they deal with that more.

I will give them a try and see what they come up with in June.

you'll find that the second year is cheaper as they can see you have experience of this type of car, its the same with motorbikes, the second year of a big bike is always a lot cheaper.

what helped me is i was insured on this exact car by flux before i sold it last year so they had all its details on my file already.
