I've probably got one of the more characterful IL4's - the one in the old CBR 250's has a gear driven camshaft and goes to 19000RPM biggrin
I've got a CBR400RR, that too is a brilliant little I4 engine smile

V Twin, then a big single, maily because I wouldn't mind a Honda VTR or an Aprilia Tuono R and KTM Duke 690 or XT660X for commuting fun.

A V-Twin or a triple. IL4s with flat plane cranks tend to be bland, characterless engines, even though modern ones make huge power - it's like having an electric motor that suffers from high frequency vibration. The R1 crossplane lump sounds lovely though.

I do love this sound.

I'd love to try a v4 though.

I've got one of those as well, it's hilarious when you look down at the speedo and think your doing silly speeds when your only doing 70! Its a fantastic sound.

This video, which I must have watched 50 times, sums it up perfectly:

The ZX10 sounds so bland in comparison.

It's a lovely thing, such a smooth engine due to the hilariously small pistons laugh

Have a google of the Moto Guzzi V8 if you want comedy small engine components. It was a 1950s GP bike made (and used) with a 500cc V8. Sadly fuel efficiency let it down, but it was fecking quick when it did go!
