Best tablet for a 91 year old?
Discussion
No, seriously! My 91 year old aunt has returned from a visit to my 81 year old aunt highly impressed by the fact that you can play games on a Windows7 laptop - solitaire, etc.
She's not technical at all, but now wants to get a tablet so that she can sit in bed and night and rattle off a few rounds of Solitaire, Freecell, etc. She has no interest on going online, e-mailing, etc.
She thinks a laptop would be too heavy so wants a tablet. One of her buddies (92) at the lunch club has one and loves it.
I've been tasked with getting her one...so, what kind? Argos do a Bush one which runs Windows 8.1 and Tesco have the Hudl 2 which is Android 4.4.
Which would a non-technical (but mentally all there) elderly lady find easiest to use?

Would a 7" be too small? The 7" HP Stream is £74.99 from Microsoft with no crapware.
I have an HP Stream 8. It's a little fiddly in Desktop mode, if that is what she wants. It plays plenty of games, including Steam stuff, and Win10 will go on it shortly.I think Win8 is easier than Android for new users, but I got my mother a Nexus 10 for her email and surfing. It's a better size for the old folk IMO.

I have bought one and it's the littlest pile of cr4p I have ever purchased. I bought it to replace the Nexus 7 that I dropped....IT professional for 20 years, so please don't buy her one of them.

But they are really not suitable for an older person. Screen is too small.
I'm also not in the slightest bit surprised at people suggesting the iPad. I mean, the iPad is fine, but its no better than any Android equivalent. iOS isn't any easier to use either.
So go for any tablet device with a 10" or thereabouts screen. Android or iOS. It doesn't matter.

You're one of these weird IT professionals who hasn't got a clue what they're talking about, don't you? The HP Stream (and Windows 8.1 in tablet mode) are pretty good. I've got a similar spec tablet, they're fast, responsive, good all round devices. I'd recommend an 8.1 tablet to anyone as a general purpose device.

You must know me pretty well to make such a well crafted statement? At least I am not a cockhead. But they are really not suitable for an older person. Screen is too small.

Windows 8.1 on anything is a steamer, but then, you know better. I bow to your superior intelligence.
