2001 E46 BMW TRANSMISSION LIGHT PROBLEM.. PLZ HELP!!!

Hi there,
My BMW E46 transmission light played up on me around just over a month ago, solution to the problem was just a change in automatic transmission fluid and a new filter in the sump- problem sorted.... has been driving so smooth ever since with an extra feel of power....
Until a few days ago I have noticed my transmission light re-appear when i drive the car about a mile or so. Upon turning the car on, there is no transmission light and it runs perfectly fine.
A mile later, oil light comes on and transmission cog appears, the car picks up very slowly in lower gears and only after 2-3000 revs does the car actually pick up again and feel like its moving, i believe the car remains in one gear when i am driving....any ideas what the problem may be?
