I need a bit of direction with a decision I'm thinking of making over my current cars.

I currently own a 2006 f430 F1 and a Mercedes C63 saloon. The Ferrari is owned outright and the c63 is on a two year PCP.
Problem I am having is that I'm not really driving the fez, main reasons are that I don't really don't have a reason to drive it. I commute in the c63 to work and couldn't do that In the Ferrari, my girlfriend refuses to sit in the Ferrari as she hates the attention. The Ferrari is currently kept at my parents in their garage as we just bought a new place but the garage is converted into a office/gym which I'd like to keep which means I can't even sit in the garage and appreciate it. I find myself taking it out every few months and driving round with little reason to do so, which in turn also makes adding mileage onto the it pointless and costly (currently on 14900miles).

The C63 was purchased in 2013 and has 7 months left on the PCP, for my settlement figure I could get out of it for about 2k thrown in. I guess I could just sell the F430 and keep driving the c63 as its hardly boring but I'm now starting to wonder if there is a middle option of something that is special, I can use everyday and that will be able to replace both? I'd loose the finance payment on the Merc which, while its not an issue £800 a month would pay for something.

If I used the Ferrari money only (early 70s) my thoughts are as follows -

V10 or V8 R8 Spyder convertible
911 GT3 (not sure which Id get for the money)

Cant really think of anything else. Reason for the convertible rather than the coupe on the R8 is that it may make it feel slightly less boring! I'm 28 and could pull it off without looking too much like a pray I think!

Thoughts and suggestions?

Firstly kudos on owning a F430 at 28.

Secondly, I would say that if you aren't finding yourself enthralled driving the Ferrari (saying you "don't really have a reason to drive it" speaks volumes) then I would've thought a 911 (997.2) Turbo would fit the bill nicely. I don't think they are particularly mileage sensitive either, and would certainly be as quick as the F430 whilst being pretty relatively anonymous.

Random unaffiliated example: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

£70k would get you into an older/leggy 997 GT3, but I suspect it wouldn't be as quick as the F430? No direct experience though so take with a pinch of salt.

Perhaps I should change her. Hmm.

Thanks for the heads up on the 997t. Ill have a dig around now.

I do enjoy driving the Ferrari but (in a slightly sad way) I struggle to find things to do with it, there is only so many times you can drive to Coffee, pretend to read the papers then drive past the nice houses in Knutsford LOL.

Why not ask your girlfriend instead of us ?

We'll just suggest solutions for you not for both of you - you might find a path to exploit a second car or you might not - maybe she'll hate an R8 spyder (or whatever) even more.....

Either way I suspect you might as well finish the PCP & drop the 430 now going into summer

I can't believe a 28 year old doesn't know what to do with his Ferrari confused

How about taking it for a drive, not a drive for coffee, find some nice roads and just drive it. Do you not know the area very well, theres loads of good roads in / not far from Cheshire?

First car that sprang to mind was a Maser Granturismo MC Stradale. Not as showy as the Fezza, but well specced. Its effectively mid-engined and has a good amount of space behind the seats if you're worried about losing the practicality of the C63.

Also, theres a thread on here somewhere about how lady-friendly the Maser is.

A Merc SLS or the new AMG GT would be a good choice as an everyday car that will still be pretty special.

Right simple solution!

Sell the 430 and put the 70k into a California T exact spec you want for delivery once c63 ends!
7 years service pack and 4 year warranty.
Quite subtle, faster than 430 and C63 and amazing car to drive!! If girlfriend don't like it bump her there will be more waiting! Lol

I was going to say similar.

If the OH doesn't like the attention of the 430, then you can get a lot of the "joys" of Italian sportscar ownership from a Maserati, without the attention, and use it as a daily when the Merc goes back as they aren't really collectable or mileage sensitive.

Alternatively you could swap the 430 for something quick and stylish that the GF might feel more at home in. Perhaps a classic Jag, an old Aston, a Morgan, or even one of these...

Cheers guys, looking at 997IIts now and the California T's.

Also, cannot get away from the R8 V10 spyder but not sure if they will take a fall with the new one looming!

I was in a similar position to you a few years a go at 27, I had an F430 and a Z4M, but hardly drove the F430 and it sat there getting dusty lol. Its a great car but frankly I found it a bit boring. I had mine after a 360 which was exciting purely for being my first Ferrari, but after sitting in rawer cars, the F430 felt a bit lacking as exciting enough purely for weekend driving. I ended up getting a 360CS and then had a few of them over the last few years. Prices have gone nuts enough now unfortunately you can't get into one for the £80-90k you could even a few years ago, but for the money, you could look at all manner of other rawer cars if you want a bit of fun for the weekend. Otherwise like the others I'd suggest a 911 turbo or Maserati. You could always up the DD and get a cheaper rawer car for the odd drive (VX220, Exige, something like that)

Attention is one thing, the type of attention is another.
Some don't care, others do.
When 360's were new the attention we got was sometimes "flash ****". Never bothered me but then switched to my first classic, 308, at 21 and glad I did. Rightly or wrongly it's just more joyful for passengers and myself. Still quick enough to lose your license, looks good and sounds right smile
