IIRC its a one off as Eurovision is so big down under.
Not sure what would happen if they win though
They did explain this on BBC the other day but for the life of me I can't remember what they sai...I think another country would host it for them. Not sure what would happen if they win though
ETA
From the Independent:
"If Australia win then SBS – the public broadcaster which is an Associate Member of the EBU – will jointly host the Contest in a European country with another EBU Member," said the EBU's Dave Goodman. "And they would get the chance to defend their title too."

You reckon... or will the politics of annoyed eastern block voters stick a hammer and sickle up at 'em.
Will be interesting to see, in theory the ideal song with the prettiest singer, but will anti Russian sentiment lose it votes? Also I wonder how big the gay vote will be for Australia's entry.
The thing with Eurovision now is that you rarely get a badly performed or far out act on there now.
They are very much generic pop/rock/ballad radio friendly fares, with none of the obscure far Eastern European folk groups or singers that you used to get.
A lot of these songs you could drop into a Magic FM, Heart FM, Radio 2 playlist, and you would not know they were a Eurovision act.
It tends to be our ones that are usually the worst. This years is no exception

Well, the OH is off working tonight, so I might resurrect my old tradition of getting trashed whilst laughing my arse off at EV
Holy crap, well reminded. I haven't started drinking yet! Can't watch EV sober, I've already arranged for someone else to drive tomorrow so I have some catching up to do.
Did we all have a drinking game for EV last year or was that just me?
