I am considering selling my Mk1 2000 car and just had a look now at e bay and on here and there is not much for sale .
I generally sell cars with a good add on e bay classified with some strong pictures and the right price. I have sold all my previous TVR's this way.

Where can I get a good idea of the real market price ?
The range on here is £40k to £20k but only one Mk1 for sale?

Can this be right , I am sure when I looked and bought three years ago there were heaps to choose from.

Thanks in advance for any pointers on how to get a comparison

Re-visiting the PH Classifieds , it looks like AD prices have risen since i was looking for mine earlier last year.
Recent conversations with a couple of TVR specialist's seem to back that up, and Mk1's particularly - the sub £15K cars have all but gone (unless they're currently parked in a Salvage yard ).
Tuscan 2 and convertibles also look to have risen in the last year or so , the Sagaris effect pulling prices up there maybe ?
In fact most TVR stuff has gone from being Very Under priced to Bargain priced IMHO.
Just looking at the adverts on here for other performance, sports, classic and competition cars from other marques and see what £10k , £25k ,50K will buy you - then see what that will buy you in the world of TVR smokin.

redcard Sssh! FFS you lot...I'm hoping to be able to afford one in the next few years before they get out of reach! Just remember that until I buy one, they're the worst car ever invented! wink

Time of year plays a major part in prices and with the weather as it was this weekend, people start to think spring... (Those lucky enough to have them running, I'm not bitter)

Although saying that there has been a gradual rise since I started looking 12 months ago, must say it would seem Chim's have risen the most... long may it continue....

Just to put my two pennies worth in... having owned two MK 1 Tuscans the first one I bought 3yts ago at just below the 20k mark and went up in value just recently the 2nd one with only 6,000miles on the clock which is just being restored to concours condition I'm expecting to be valued at sub 40k on an agreed value basis.

I know of a few that have sold 25-30k with very low mileage and engine that has been taken care of.

Cheapest Mk1 in the classifieds (from a UK seller) is £19.5k. Good to see smile

I get excited reading things like this! Mine is an early 2000 car & is FAR from being up there with the best, but it's having a respray as we speak & still pulls like a train, so considering I paid £5k for it under 3 years ago I don't think I'm doing too bad! spin

Sorry I can't help any with the values, but the only advice I can offer is DON'T SELL IT!!!

That is very good work, can't believe any Tuscan in any condition would go for that even on a Cat C as little as 3 years ago.

I reckon current trend is +£2k per year which isn't stellar but offsets the maintenance nicely. If you can afford it its always best to go for condition, condition, condition but if like R7EBO you can somehow find a sleeper that can be significantly refreshed you're not going to lose.

Interestingly top-end Mk3 convertibles seem to be cheaper than a year ago.

It wasn't a cat anything, but it was a mess! It wasn't running, thick moss inside & out & grass growing in the passenger footwell having been left sat outside for over 6 years. It only had 20k on the clock but it's been a long and expensive process to get it back as it should be! Although saying that it's been used as my daily for the last 2 years!

Still need front brakes, carpets & drivers seat repairing but other than that I'm not far off! Fingers crossed the engine holds on for a few years yet! scratchchin

No matter what happens or what the values are though she's not going anywhere, we're in it for the long haul!

I have been pondering in a similar way to the OP.

I have been watching fairly closely and there's not been many for sale and by my watching, those that are for sale haven't shifted.

The cheapest ones located in mainland Europe have been on sale for a while now. There have been very few mk1s for sale at below 20k in the last 6 months beyond these ones.

As such, it is very hard to price them and I would have no idea where to start with mine.

It hasn't had the engine rebuild but does have a brand new chassis ( which I suspect several may be needing shortly). Before the chassis work, I had it advertised on here for £13k and didn't get a sniff of interest.

If I was to put it up now, based on the others I have seen, I would be thinking of ~£18k but that seems ridiculous.....

Probably easier not to bother selling it at all OP and just hang on to it......

Thanks for all the posts and the last one here just shows how difficult it is to value. Mine has had the engine rebuild and other work too, brakes, suspension etc however if at £13k the car in the post before this one had no interest, yet the cheapest UK Mk1 on here is £20k ?
I am going to put it up for sale over the next week or so and see what happens.

I will just start at £20k and come down after a month or so and see what interest if any. If it does not sell then I will keep it another year.
My mind was mid way between the £13k and the £20k.

I do think there is a big difference between advertised price and sold price, I have experienced this selling now many other cars over the last 20 years.

Thanks again for all the views.
