You have very big balls Phooey!

Cheers for the pics, Its a hard one (no pun intended) between these 2 colours for me. Does anyone live anywhere in the South West / Midlands or South that has a DMB I could see in the flesh?
I'm going steels and platinum and I think red and blue is a decent combination. i actually prefer a contract as against red and red or yellow and yellow.

Dave,

I've been trawling Phooey's GT4 colours thread here since he kindly started it. I'd 'settled' on DBM with black wheels. Here are some of the pics that made me think it looked the business :-

Unfortunately all of those except the last look like they have been enhanced. It's a tough one. I'd like to see one in the metal too but have only managed racing yellow, guards red, sapphire blue and white (don't know if it was flat or CWM - it was coming down the dual carriageway the opposite way making a nice noise biggrin). I've not done badly I suppose(!). None of these really were something I would consider for myself.

If I get a slot it will either be black or DBM unless CTS comes back. I think.

Is there any reason not to choose flat black over the jet black metallic? All the local cars seem to be the metallic. I had a look at the flat black sample and it looked pretty good to me. I've had flat black on another car and if it is clean it can look pretty good. This looks fabulous but not sure if flat black or metallic :-

There are those that keep saying GT Car = Loud Colour but not everyone has to agree!

I've seen some great shots of DBM but still not sure I'd actually specify it. In most lighting conditions it looks just a little dowdy for a GT car (just imho). Of the standard colours (no cts), I'm still content that I went with White. In the showroom I thought GR looked fab. But still not sure I'd go for it myself as in daylight it can look a little forgettable.

White always looks good. I'm being drawn towards side stripes.

Might get my "nipples" painted White too. Had them done on my 7.2GT3.

Gary, based anywhere near the midlands? If so, drop me a message, I know a dealership that has a Dark Blue customer car just arrived.

Thanks Gary, good pics indeed and that DBM car looks the dogs, it really does. The pics are enhanced and maybe the last pic is more true to form. Light plays a mahoosive part in all this as we know and i love the DMB but maybe it looks best on a bright day when clean which is about 10% of where it'll be in my life with it!

Interestingly, the flat black issue is something i was confronted with recently when speccing my Cayenne, I was advised to go Jet black met as the dealer said to me that flat black is to be avoided as makes for a dull appearance and can date the car. Odd thing to say but I know him well so I agreed for what its worth. Whatever the black, its a bh to keep clean but then i like dark colours and on a Cayenne, business colours are the way to go, less so on a GT car.

I have decided on CR and am going to stick to it. I was worried that at 39 (40 in feb) I am tool old for bright colours but then I realised that I still like pretty your blonde women with big boobs so I went for red!

From the YouTube vid, I think the rear spoiler brackets looks great in silver on a DMB car.
Liking DMB a lot from that actually!

Does look good in that vid with Guards Red beside it for contrast.

More 'normal' DBM pics from those that now have one please. Also Black. TIA.

Wow that looks great in black (minus the nasty orange indicators)

I went white as I'd just be paranoid about scratches on black.

Thanks Phooey. Stick some black alloys on that and it would be even blacker / better.

The little Youtube vid I posted shows one in the All Black Stealth Attack form.

How much more black could it be?... None. None more black

Its looking like Black will be a rare colour on the GT4. It was quite popular on the Cayman R. Mine was black and I loved it.
You do lose some detail with a black car though but that gets my vote...

I've got a black one and the colour is definitely growing on me. If anything I think it enhances many of the cars lines whilst giving it a very stealthy look.

Did you go metallic or flat black?

My GT4 is now confirmed! I have to confirm my spec by 27th Jan, and will get it in May.

Currently thinking flat white w/ red interior, LWB and steel brakes.

I'm in the Midlands too! My thoughts...

My colour choice was GR for a long time until I was offered a well specced one by Solihull OPC. Then I recalled my brother in law's 911 which he had sold after just 4 weeks because of... colour.

I phoned him and asked him what colour the 911 was. "Guards Red" he replied. Why did you sell it? "Because of the number of people who said to me that they thought it was a nice PINK colour".

It was one of the first 997's in the UK so he sold it for what he paid.

I asked him if he was sure it was GR, as I'd seen the same on the 981 in sun, in shade, in the showroom, and no hint of pink?
He said he was 100% certain. He'd never forget that!

That conversation put me off GR, just to be on the safe side, but I still had my doubts.

However, when I test drove my current (Rhodium) 981 the seller and I ended up at Reading OPC as I wanted then to check the front tyre edges (I know "they all do that" now!) and walking from the car to the showroom the seller said "Oh look... a pink Cayman!" and there it was... in the late afternoon light I saw for the first time the pinkness of Guards Red. That confirmed my decision, thankfully!

As for DBM, DON'T DO IT!!!!!

They all look fabulous in ANY colour when shiny and in the sun. With a title light dusting of Midlands grime, and a dull day, it'll look like a piece of s**t. Having had a black car before, you must know how these dark colours are only good to drive when they're freshly cleaned? My previous TTS was Panther Black, a stunning colour when clean, but a dull blob when dirty - hated driving it dirty as it showed all the rain spots and crap coming off the road.

DBM is a rare colour, I'll give you that, but why is that? I went to see a Cayman S Porsche UK launch car with £25k of options, £72k new, which had lost £30k in 2 years and was the same price as the 2.7 I bought. What put me off? Well, apart from the engine, the colour - Anthracite Brown. Think of re-sale. I'd prefer Guards Pink to DBM, so long as I didn't drive it near dusk!

So, I went from GR as number one to "a silver"... Platinum was available on the 981 for my used search, but a little brown, GT Silver seemes to be a Porsche favourite so that was a possible. Hadn't seen a Rhodium car until the one in Reading came up on AT, so I spotted one at Sutton Coldfield OPC and drove over just to look at the colour. Stunning! In a split second I was grateful I'd shifted away from "too flashy?" GR to a more subtle silver. I really hadn't wanted another silver car, as every car on the road is silver, grey, black, or white, but then I remembered the advantages too. Best colour for being dirty, and the Platinum Carrera S wheels would do the same for brake dust.

Like me, you seem to be split between flash (GR) and dull (DBM), so what image are you trying to convey? To me Agate too is in the "dull when dirty" camp, Racing Yellow is fab but perhaps only for a week's ownership, black (and DBM) loses the car's features as has been said, white is great but you'd be forever washing it, Sapphire... hmm...

Why was Carmine red "out of the question" and then your chosen colour?
