I finalised my October build order at the weekend in GT Silver. Some may think this is boring; I wanted contrast with the venting details but I hate white cars.
I didn't have the balls to order purple even though I think this will be the "viper green" choice of the future.
Don`t worry no colour on a GT3RS will end up looking boring and GT Silver is normally an expensive option. Its got a lot of depth to it looks great in sunlight ete. Will show off the black trim bits but in a amore subtle way. Its probably the best value colour given its one of the two standard no charge colours available.

White being the other and its a non metallic flat white which will still be popular as its safe and gives a full contrast with the air intakes and rear spoiler end plates etc. Black wheels will come into play with this colour too. Problem with the white is there are no additional stripes as standard like on previous GT3RS versions to make it look a little more racy and interesting.

Ultra violet with the light coloured wheels will be very interesting. Note the rear spoiler mounting brackets also appear in a light colour. Its one of those colours that brings the features of the car including the air intakes etc into one flowing look. There are going to be so few of these cars around that the colour is unlikely to affect the resale price so if you are brave enough really worth considering. Ultraviolet may well be the colour others admire but didn`t actually choose. Only down side is it will not look totally sporty will look more classy.

Lave Orange is as we know the launch colour and those at Geneva say the Orange is not as solid as the pictures show. In the intense lights of the Porsche stand there was a definite salmon pink in the paint. Lave Orange does look amazing in the pictures but I think its one of those colours you have to see to be certain. Contrast with the trim bits will be great and black wheel option a must for sure. The only problem with orange is its too "I am" its jut a little too high profile for some.

However you can`t knock Porsche on their offering of Lava Orange and Ultraviolet its exciting stuff. Otherwise we wait to see if paint to sample becomes available and what colours they will approve. Lets also not forget that the 997.2 GT3RS 4.0 was never available PTS in the UK but was in the USA. However Its unlikely this will be the case on the 991 GT3RS as its a much larger production run. What is different this time is the magnesium roof which I am told is reacting differently to the paint. When the factory sprays the plastic bits it does them separately and allows for colour variations at that stage. This time the shell is different they can't just simply paint the mag roof separately as its part of the structure. So they have had to overcome the issues with paint spraying a composite body shell. This is why PTS is a bigger issue. They will overcome the issue as this shell is likely to appear on more cars going forward. Including 991.2 GT2/RS and 991.2 GT3RS

I've placed an order for a PTS Viper Green 991 GT3 RS (for the NZ market). Should be an interesting look.....

Stefan1 had his UK 4.0 GT3RS supplied in Mexico Blue but AFAIK his was the only UK car.

You have placed the order but has your dealer confirmed that Porsche have actually accepted the car into their programme to be built in Viper Green. I am told that at the moment they are bringing together all the requests from all markets and deciding if these requests are possible. It appears likely that PTS will happen but for some markets it may slow down delivery. All the pictures of the German deliveries are in the four listed colours. Porsche say its still at least 3 weeks before they can approve PTS on the 991 GT3RS and that's for all markets.

Silver seems the safe choice but doesn't seem "RS" enough, White is classic but needs stickers, Ultra Violet looks more classy GT than RS, and Orange is the default as very RS without the wheel contrasts of old. Will look splendid with the black wheels.

Sounds good - do you know if it's a restricted col group due to comexity of matching all the bodies materials or take your pick ? Any info on delays associated with choosing PTS ? smile

I'm slightly tempted to stray from my Lava Orange order for PTS, but then I'd lose the orange inserts, stitching and belts etc. That's too big a trade off for me.

Porsche exclusive said the PTS option will appear on the dealers configurator from Monday. The dealer should be able to tell us our build times but of course anything from the exclusive range can slow production down although personally this has never happened to me before. But then I have never had to order PTS before as my previous cars have always been available in G.R. To me Guards Red is not really PTS as its a colour already available across almost all the 911 range. So hopefully there will not be a serious delay. Sounds like they have found an answer to painting the composite shell. It was clearly a priority for the paint technical department as this shell is the future of the next 991.2 GT cars as well. They mentioned no extra restrictions on PTS above the normal.
