Drmsa, the explanation I was given was the same as yours, so as its come from three separate sources I guess it must be true. Harry and Coin, glad you are still liking the cars and finding positive aspects. Coin, will any SD card do, or does it have to be a particular size?
I've got a 32g class 10 SD and it works fine, not sure if the bigger capacities work, probably not.I applied some Gtechniq sealant stuff when I got it and today spotted a kind bird had decided to crap all over it!
Usually this would mean a blemish in the clear coat as unless you get to it very quickly it soon burns through, but connecting up my hose to a hot tap and soaking the poop for 30 seconds and it all slid straight off without any damage

Harry & Coin, now that you have lived with the cars for a while, is there anything that you do not like or would change. I think the general consensus was that for a car in this price range electric seats should be standard, although for most people this is not an issue. Harry, you have mentioned the width of the car as being a problem on some roads. From memory the interior seemed of nice quality, but maybe did not initially give the initial impression of being from a £48k car, have you found anything lacking.
Finally the "blue tec" fuel addition, does the car use much?

I did a 300 mile run this weekend, mostly motorway and fast A roads and averaged 35mpg.
Comfortable, quiet, discreet are a few words I'd use to describe it.
The satnav is excellent, I've got a 2nd sim that I put £10 of data on, I used up about 500mb on the trip home using Google Maps and my kids were watching music video's on the iPad that was connected up to the in-car wireless access point..
Nothing much else to report really, I miss the reverse camera, but the parking sensors are very good and have 4 distinct areas of coverage on the front and rear, kind of hard to explain, but they work better than my Landcruiser sensors.
I'm pretty sure my washer reservoir is leaking as it's needed topping up twice and I noticed that it never seems to actually fill up to the brim and then you can see water pouring out from under the wheel arch. I'll monitor it for a couple more days before booking it in to be looked at.

I've not tried the 'coasting' feature, anybody else tried it?
I use it, its a bit like knocking it into neutral when you are off the gas and above 25kph. It does however disable when you are rolling down hill, so as it doesn't gain speed!! For me, I reckon it saves about another 10% on the overall consumption. My average is currently 31mpg from new and increasing frmo the 24mpg the delivery guy managed over 200 miles, I'm now sitting at 2000 miles. It also includes a lot of short journeys to the shops and taking the dogs to the beach (2 miles) at least three times a week. On a run on A roads drivnig 30-60mph I can easily get 38mpg now and sometimes 41mpg over say a 20 mile run. Motorway at 60-80 I get around 35mpg with now real effort. As to the cars quality etc, whilst it is not a Mercedes inside, things like the window switch gear are not as solid etc it is still pretty good and a nice place to sit. Do I think its worth £48k of my own money, probably not hence the lease deal, but then again I think anything north of £30k is too expernsive!
The car is wide and you have to think twice about some parking spaces but dynamically it really feels smaller. An interesting fact is the track is nearly 2" wider than the Disco, despite overall width being virtually the same, so that might help explain why it feels so planted on the move.
I like it..............

For the hard of thinking amongst us, me then, how do you set up the in-car wireless access point? are you using your phone? or do you use a mifi device? Comfortable, quiet, discreet are a few words I'd use to describe it.

I've got a very rough understanding of tethering and the fact a lot of phones/providers won't let you do it though? do you have a link to how to do it or can you describe it for idiots like me......

Due to iPhone and VW not playing nicely together there's no way of using the phone to do both calls and data, which is a damn shame and a silly oversight from VW.
So, I got a Three PAYG sim and loaded it with £10 of credit, stuck the sim in the slot under the glovebox. Then there was a setting somewhere, sorry I forget where exactly, to enable the wifi access point.
I then searched for a wifi connection on my iPad and found a VW network, again I forget where, but the password is listed somewhere in the menu.
From that point on the iPad was connected to the world via the VW Satnav unit, my kids could browse, the Satnav was loading Google Maps when you chose the Google view and Traffic info was loaded over the top of the roads where applicable.
At this point it goes slightly pearshaped as the Satnav won't allow two sim cards to connect at once so it will disconnect the iPhone, so if you want Google, Live Traffic and Wifi then you'll lose hands free which is very annoying. If you eject the sim then the hands free comes back again.
Fingers crossed that VW do a software upgrade, apparently the identical Audi system was doing the same thing, but recently they have updated theirs to allow two sims at once.
A bit more info and probably better explained here - http://www.mytreg.com/index.php?/topic/50314-rns-8...

I got an email from the dealer last week. Anyone else had this? My only option is Met Black. Ordered in March
Delays to Touareg and Tiguan
26 May 2015
Parts restrictions are delaying certain customer orders
VW0631-15
Some Touareg and Tiguan orders are delayed because of unforeseen factory parts restrictions caused by a fire at a supplier factory. We have been informed by the factory the anticipated delay on these vehicles could be a minimum of three weeks.

This whole order business is very poor in my opinion.I ordered mid March and it took till 12 May for the status to change to "With Factory". It has remained at that status since then and mine is just the bog standard car. It will be interesting to see how long it takes from build date to delivery. I am still waiting to hear back from my dealer, whether or not my delivery date will be impacted by the fire at a suppliers factory, he is normally very quick at replying and I have not heard anything so far, so fear the worst.
I have just been told by my dealer that the delays talked about in a previous post are impacting orders currently at the build stage only, however I cannot help thinking that this will have a knock on effect with all orders, unless of course VW can simply ramp up production to catch up.
